1ST & 10 AFTER GINN CATCH 2018 NFC

That's the play, if Drew completes it, it is either a walk- in TD for MT or, he falls down, forces Rams to use last TO. Saints win, that play and the no call, obviously, are just killers.

clearly we have a thing for loosing in the playoffs if you haven’t noticed

That was a terrible throw by Drew

Drew wasn’t right after the hit he took on the Falcons INT. It sucks. And it happens to all old QBs. Dumb play by him...and ballsy play by him.
Bottom line is he did ENOUGH to get the Saints back to the super bowl. A lot of these playoff games tend to be close. Good teams under a salary cap reaching for the same goal.
Can’t win it if the refs cheat.

Going back to the missed PI call, I noticed Ginn was WIDE the frick open over the middle to the left which would’ve been the easiest TD Brees ever threw...

The Ginn completion was a great play by Ginn on a terribly underthrown deep ball by Brees.
I don't think Brees has completed a pass of this type since then.

He had to have gotten hurt. He experienced too big of drop off right after that game. He went from having a 126 passer rating (would have been an NFL single season record) to having about a 90 passer rating in the reminder of the games (playoff included). He went from near perfect the first time against the Rams to struggling the in the playoffs.

2018 thanksgiving game vs Dallas is when the end of Brees happened. Hurt his rotator cuff and hasn’t ever been the same. That team was equal to 2011 until that game. Eagles came in town early nov and saints beat em like they were JV. Then after injury eagles made a close game in 2nd round.

Or you just run the fricking ball 3 times in a row. No timeouts and 40 seconds less on the clock. frick SP!

I agree that it was a horrible throw by Brees but IMO that throw should never have been attempted.
After the Ginn catch, Saints were at the Rams' 13yd line. (1st & 10)
Rams - 2 timeouts / 1:58 left in the game.
Payton should have rolled his Jumbo package with 3 straight runs up the middle. Force them to burn those timeouts.
You either gain a first down and run the clock down to 2secs then kick the game-winning FG to go to SB
OR
Kick FG on 4th down and leave only 65secs or so on the clock for the Rams w/no TOs to march down the field to tie/win the game.
Personally, the Rams should never have touched the ball again.
But, But, ...
It was the right call against the Rams defense. If only Brees had thrown a better ball to Thomas.
So tired of this argument.
That's exactly WHY I wouldn't pass the ball in that situation. Too many variables with what was at stake. The one time we needed a sure fire catch from Brees to Thomas ...it wasn't there. The no-call never even happens with 3 straight runs up the middle.
IMO, even if the Saints wouldn't have gained a 1st down, I still trust the 2018 Saints D to stop the Rams O for roughly 65secs from getting a FG or TD especially with no TOs.
Downvote away, but I blame Sean more for losing this game than Brees or Thomas.

Or the defense could have stepped up with a 3 point lead. That’s how these things work. You play the cards you’re dealt.

I wonder if we’ll ever get the story on what happened there

That game still hurts. That should have been our year. No reason we couldn’t beat the Pats in the SB

Why torture yourself and us?

It was the Thanksgiving game before on the INT vs Atlanta (should've been PI, Kirkwood got mauled). He hurt his shoulder trying to tackle the guy trying to score.

Anyone have a link to video of the plays that happened right after Ginn's 43 yard catch? I wanted to see again how everything unfolded leading up to the no-call.

Thanks but that was the regular season game, not the playoff game.
