Not all assets require cap space.

Are we trading for CP3 or is OKC trading for Jrue? Im not sure how you or others know how this works..

You think we are the only teams who would want CP3?

Pels: Hey we will give you Jrue, NAW and 2 2nds

OKC: Nah, Jrue, NAW, a 1st, and 2 seconds

Pels: What about Lonzo and Jrue for CP3 and draft picks?

OKC: how about we trade him to someone else for younger players AND draft picks

Pels: Damn ok what about just Jrue and Lonzo?

That's how it would go if we wanted him that bad and I sure hope we don't. Yeah a 3 team trade could work but honestly if we do a 3 team trade I'd almost rather look at the assets on the 3rd team and get multiple players/ picks.

35 year old CP3 for 2 years and $85M on a declining cap is not as attractive as CP3 in a vacuum.

I believe this is Lonzo's 3rd agent in his short career? 4th?

I think perhaps he's not hearing what he wants to hear re: future contract numbers.

I'm not signing Rose to play defense. I'm trading Lonzo for #7 and a veteran PG who can faciliate and only cost 4 million. Its better than people suggesting we trade him stricty for #8, which is a spot behind correct?

The difference is Rose can be on the court with Jrue a good bit. JJ couldn't unless Jrue was playing out of his spot. So yes I fully believe Rose/ Jrue combo has better defense than Jrue/JJ. Plus it doesn't matter because Rose is 5 mil so you can take your extra 10 mil we'd have to give Zo and sign a defensive PG or draft one with the #7,
or best case scenario NAW developes.

you are a better team with jrue on it and that’s a fact.
he’s not going anywhere and I will handshake bet anyone here on that.

lonzo has zero leverage here as ATL smartly pointed out. Especially after that turd he laid on the court in the bubble. He’s 4th banana at best and he knows it. He’ll be traded at the draft and I think he signed with klutch because he’s already agreed to try and get to the Knicks

Jrue flat-out embarrassed David Griffin this year. All the talk of "team leader" and "MVP candidate" turned out to be a pathetic joke. Jrue played like crap for the first 15 games of the year, and he completely failed to step up a leader.

Is he one of the league's very best on-ball defenders? Yes. How about help defense and organizing the younger guys on the court? How about being vocal with guys like Hayes and Zion and telling them where they need to be letting them know when they mess up? Being a defensive leader really isn't something that Jrue is capable of. It doesn't mean all that much to call him a great defender if he can't be the leader of at least a decent defense.

Was Jrue a good player this past year? Yes. Was he what we needed him to be? Please. Betting on him to return seems silly.

jrue is not the player he was hyped to be.
he’s still better than most and he’s the team leader.

why can’t he be Marcus smart? Kyle Lowry?
etc

what he makes is irrelevant not that you brought it up but others have. He takes up one roster spot and he’s got history here now and buy in. It would be a major step backwards to trade him

Give Jrue a true facilitator and a real 7' C and see how much it would improve.

We don't need anymore picks to be successful from the draft. Unless we can take some and get lower picks there is no need to add more. We will only really need 3-4 role players from our draft picks that we can pick and choose from the next few years.

we’d go from a bubble team to an 8 seed to get swept in the first round next season. Not worth. The west is too stacked to try and fully compete next season.

I wasn't talking about overall just responding about Jrue. I'm saying he would be a lot better if he could stick to his role and have those 2 spots to help out.

Also we are probably one badass center away from a 4-5 seed so idk what you mean by going to 8 seed with that roster. Obviously that's assuming our young guys all take a step forward.

Lakers, Clippers, Nuggets, Mavs maybe going forward? With a good center and Jrue locking up Mitchell I think we are better than the Jazz. Houston could blow up any second or already.

Ahh gotcha my bad. And no chance in hell we’re one good center away from a 4-5 seed. Unless somehow Zion and Bi make a huge leap defensively

They wouldn't have to make a "huge" leap if we had a dominant blocking and rebounding Center that can stop Zion and BIs guys from going straight to the rim without a foul. It would slow up play for us and can actually help Zion and BI adapt easier. Also it would help us not have to do any small ball with Zion vs 5, BI vs 4, or Jrue vs 3.

Exactly why we need Turner. Hes an elite rim protector and his ability to stretch the floor would allow Zion and BI to do their thing on offense without the paint being clogged.

With the D'antoni to Pacers talk, they will likely move one of Turner or Sabonis
