I’m not a big fan of the AD saga neither but to singlehandedly want to blackball this agency because the star player wanted out is pretty brutal. I don’t have facts but I’m pretty sure if I google I can find a similar situation with another agency. Won’t be the last neither

It's not that AD wanted out. The way Rich Paul handled it was extremely unprofessional. I also don't want Rich Paul in our locker room.

Aside from the biggest centers in the league, he can guard anyone you put him on.

I was on the fence about Ball. This helps give clarity.

Move on from him.

I feel the same way. I was willing to stick with him another year to see how they gel, but I don't want to deal with a guy who isn't worth quite what he thinks he's worth with his dad and Rich Paul trying to manipulate the situation. It's just not worth it.

Klutch is the kiss of death. We can’t avoid dealing with Klutch forever. We are going to have an important player that has them.

But I’d still have my first inclination to trade whomever sings with Klutch.

I know the Saints just dealt with them with Kamara. I’d still just rather not.

Right, his defense isn't close to the problem with him. It's more of an offensive fit issue, IMO. He's a 2 offensively, and can get his own shot, but he's not someone that I want attempting to facilitate half court offense for the team. I don't know that it makes sense to pay Jrue 25+ mil in the future, because we won't be able to afford the play making guard that this team needs.

I was fooled on Holiday. He was said to be 6'5, 200+lbs and could guard anybody in the league, plus he would thrive off the ball. None of that it true. He is small, is not a great shooter, is better with the ball in his hands and is being asked to do too much on defense. He can play SG, but he is better at PG. Especially with all the great passers on this team.

I really like Hart and Redick is the best shooter in the league (plus Didi is joining). SG is more than fine next season. Holiday is a top 10 PG. Let him hold it down for the next couple years, while NAW learns. Perfect situation..

Agree with most of what you said. I don't know how our fans are so blinded by Jrue defense that they can't see he does not need to be on the floor wasting away the SG position on offense.

This is a scoring league right now and he is too inconsistent as a SG to take us where we need to go. He is good with the ball in his hands for the first 3 quarters and that should be his role, not hanging around the 3 pt line.

When you go this far out of your way to make your point, it's pretty clear you're not very confident in your point.

The idea that Jrue and his 20 and 7 are just "wasting away" the SG position is absurd. You can point out his flaws, sure. But let's not pretend he's some below avg/mediocre offensive player.

He's average, maybe above average offensively.

What does he do on offense at an above average level? Shooting? No. Finishing? Mabye? Ball handling? No. Passing? Maybe?

When he's aggressive, and attacks the basket, he's pretty good. How often does he do that though?

re: Zo switches agents again...signs w/Klutch
Once again how often does he get to strictly play his SG position? How often does he play PG or even SF? and even when he plays SG is he the guy that the defense gives space and leaves open? Jrue is currently an elite defender and above average shooter. Not an amazing shooter but above average, especially with his finishing abilities. The problem is having a PG and C to space the floor for him. Sadly those 2 positions help SGs tremendously when it comes to getting them open and spacing. That's the 2 things we haven't given Jrue to work with.

While you're right that they team isn't built "correctly" around Jrue, the team actually needs to be built around BI and Zion, rather than Jrue now. And IMO, Jrue doesn't really fit well with those two, oddly enough because he's too good (will make too much money on his next deal).

re: Zo switches agents again...signs w/Klutch
I don't get the perception of replacing Jrue. People want to replace him with a "true" SG what like Redick with 0 defense at all? Or they want an expensive PG or SG replacememt. Jrue is very valuable with his skill sets and being able to guard 1-5 if needed. His skills are a lot harder to replace then Lonzo or JJ. So why wouldn't we keep Jrue and sign cheaper players for the other skill sets we need? It will be way easier replacing JJ with another shooter or Lonzo with a veteran leadership PG > replacing Jrue's defense and other skills sets.

I think because Griff and company know this team is a ways away from competing and may feel this is the perfect offseason to trade Jrue to get maximum assets (for his value). If they can’t though, I’m sure they’ll keep him.

re: Zo switches agents again...signs w/Klutch
I'm saying our team isn't correctly built for any SG to get his and someone who can't drive to the basket or play defense like Jrue would hurt us more with our current roster. I would love to see Jrue on this squad as a champion but yeah I agree that he may not be the best piece around BI or Zion going forward. The problem is that his value is still worth way more to us than what we can get so we should keep him, get replacements for JJ and Lonzo that fit, and start building the future until we can move Jrue or move on from Jrue.

- Nerlens Noel, passed up $50-$60 because Klutch thought he could get more and now is a league minimum player
- Marcus Morris reportedly had 2 deals in place, one with the Clippers and one with the Spurs, and both disappeared, then Morris dumped Klutch and had to sign with the Knicks.
- Norris Cole actually tried to do a hold out with the Pelicans, yes, that Norris Cole. Demps held his ground, he came back cheap for 1 year and hasn't been heard from in the league since.

Also add KCP to that list.... turned down 4/80mil from Detroit and then had no offers close to that... will end up about 30mil short of the 80 with the Lakers (and he had no real security, since they were short deals)

He only has 1 year left on his deal. This team needs a true PG. Jrue's contract is the only one on the books that can realistically be traded for another upper tier player. We aren't going to get a true starting caliber PG by signing "cheaper players".

IMO, the 3 types of players that need to surround BI and Zion are a facilitator that can shoot the ball, a big that can play defense and stretch a bit on offense, and a 3 and D wing. Of those 3 players, I feel like the facilitator should be the player that is prioritized. And the stretch big and 3 and D wing should have roughly the same priority. If we're paying Jrue 25+ million a year, we won't be able to place a priority on getting a facilitator type player.

I only want to trade him away if we can get a true facilitator, or assets to acquire that player. I don't want to give him away for nothing.

re: Zo switches agents again...signs w/Klutch
100% agree those are our 3 needs. We realistically won't fill all 3 unless some perfect trades happen. That's why many people are saying we need to build through the draft. While I agree, I think we could take Lonzo, JJ, and 1 or 2 of those picks and maybe get 2 of those needs from that. There are just no solid packages for Jrue we could get right now. Also we don't know if our FO really wants to keep Jrue until a large trade opens up sometime in the next year or 2.

One of the trades Ive said was Lonzo for #7 and D rose. We could sign him for very cheap as a solid facilitator and defensive player that can help NAW or another young PG without crippling the bank. JJ has a good bit of value if we don't let him walk and if we can't get a younger SG for him we should at least be able to get our 3&D guy.
