Is this going to be an issue for the rest of his career? He is a teenager. These things usually don't normally get better with age. The Pel's definitely needed the hype insertion he brought to the team, but eventually they will need consistent on the court production as well.

Just hire Duke’s training staff they got the job done.

How does 23.1 PTS, 6.5 RBS, 2 AST, 59% FG% with a 24 PER in 29 minutes sound?

At first I wasn’t worried about it but it’s becoming a concern no matter how much someone wants act like it’s nothing to worry about

I don’t think it’s a Zion issue. He looks fine. The team are treating him like a piece of glass they are afraid to break. Now it’s better than the other way around and we played him too hard, but this current minutes restriction seems ridiculous.

This! He’s dominant whenever he’s on the court. His minutes should easily be doubled. Not even the best teams can afford to have their best player play 15mpg.

Generally yes, but he was straight arse today.

So was everyone else, but this was easily his worst outing as a pel.

I think he would be able to play at his highest level and get even quicker and more dangerous if he got himself looking more like he did at Duke.

I don't buy the "He's gonna get hurt" thing. His style of game means there's a risk. Making him lighter and quicker puts him up on the competition. He'll always have a large frame and will throw around similar and even slightly taller players. But I want him to be able to hustle and attack for longer.

I don’t understand how he gets in a rhythm with his minutes restriction.

Maybe because the guy is clearly well over 300 pounds rn. Hes asking to blow a knee out if he keeps eating like he is.

YouTube video on Zion from March 2019

This video is really interesting on Zion’s body type. Talks about what Zion’s body is naturally designed to be at and why losing weight can actually hurt him more than help him.

Honestly, the Pelicans need to be upfront and actually explain where he is and where they want him at and why. Leaving everything in the dark causes so much more problems than it helps. What’s his diet like, workout structure, etc. clear up the confusion and eliminate the conspiracies.

This is the most depressing part of all this.

Zion is our largest reason for optimism.

Him looking fat and slow is...not great.

They said he lost weight in the time off, he looks exactly the same as when he came back off injury

Exactly, explain how he went from looking how he did in the IG post to now.

Whether he looked like that because of the pump from his workout or if he actually did gain 10 pounds back with his family. If he did that’s a huge problem and speaks poorly on his eating habits. He had to have consumed 30,000 more than he burned in that stretch which is insane.

He’s not at the point where he has to go to fat camp, but at least develop some consistency.

That’s not how that works. Trained athletes don’t hurt themselves because they’re too heavy. They do it because they overexerted themselves or landed wrong. Look at all the often injured players who were never big. Being too large is more likely to harm his feet or ankles than his knee. And that’s often sustained from running. Not landing from his jumps.

This is because of leadership. Your coach is useless in clutch situations because he has no play calling skill. Griffin is trying to think 4 years ahead. IMO . THE players feel like there is no purpose to try hard

Yeah a lot of guys forget on Derrick Rose, Hardaway, McGrady etc who had many knee injuries without being fat...

However , Griff must explain where Zion is and where they want him at and why like said fightingtigers98. He looks slow anyway.
