More I watch him the less I think a team like New York or anyone else for that matter would even trade that number one pick for Ad. Zion could be the most popular player in league in five years and hasnt even touched his potential. Doubt they would trade that for a soft 26 year old who plays 60 games a year and lets Lebron, his agent, and his daddy speak for him. I mean if you were the knicks why would you do that?

You have a good point. I just hope whoever the new GM is starts off on the right note and doesnt blow the trade. We’ll see.

It's not AD for Zion, it's AD being enough of an anchor for the Knicks to use the 2 Max salary slots the freed up on Max level FAs. AD + 2 other max players vs. Zion is what the Knicks will be looking at.

Getting Kd,Kyrie and Davis would be the only possible move I can see that would make this happen. If its for Kyrie, Jimmy Butler and Davis I would say no thanks if I was the knicks. IMO that number one pick is the second biggest asset in NBA after the Greek Freak. Maybe its a overreaction but I really think Zion will be a all time great.

I also heard Matt Mascona mention a good idea on the radio today. We'll be able to combine AD with our 1st round pick; so, that may help. But yeah, I was thinking the same thing the other day....

Well we all have to keep in mind it’s the Knicks. So, it’s not outside of a chance they make a deal and overpay for a superstar. Especially, if they believe KD and maybe kyrie are coming. They want guys already in their prime.

That's way too much to give up when the main piece you're getting in return has yet to play a second of professional basketball.

Yeah, Zion is making college players his bitch, but there is still a lot of questions about how well his game will translate into the NBA.

All of this.

I also don’t think it’s even a question if they manage to land the free agents before the trade happens. ADs game is so polished already. He would fit in immediately, and the Knicks would very easily be the title favorite if this scenario happens. You don’t pass on a legitimate shot at winning titles if you’re the Knicks to keep around a very raw prospect past those vets deals. AD would quite literally be the absolute perfect complimentary piece available next to Kyrie/Durant. I honestly don’t even think a Giannis is a better Robin to those two than AD, though Freak’s the better player.

You get one shot at a generational NBA player ... ours was gift-wrapped to us and we pissed it away

Now the next one is coming up - one who doesnt have a unibrow or talk like he's got a whole bag of skittles in his mouth - and we're expecting to either luck into him (again) or have another team give him up for the guy we screwed up...

Yeah it’s mainly about giving up one potential generational talent for a known young generational talent. You don’t know how Zion is going to be in the pro’s. But you do know how good AD is in the NBA. Plus, having a known elite superstar increases your chances of acquiring more like AD and Kyrie.

But won't the AD trade happen in like June? The Pels won't wait until after the draft, let alone after July 1st to trade him.

And if the trade happens in June, of course New York would trade Zion for AD, because they know that will seal the deal for KD and maybe Kyrie.

It's not Zion for AD. It's Zion for AD, KD, and Kyrie.

This. Past generational talents:
Ben Simmons
Andrew Wiggins
Anthony Davis
Greg Oden
Dwight Howard
LeBron James
Yao Ming
Kwame Brown
Chris Webber
Shaquille O’Neal

Yes, some great players in there, but some misses as well. Nobody knows how Zion will transition or how is body/health will hold up. He may be LBJ, or he may be Dwight Howard. You know what you get with AD.

I don't remember people calling Kwame a "generational talent".

Maybe not. I’m old and it’s hard to remember that far back. I do remember people saying he would be the next Keven Garnett or Karl Malone.
