If it was up to me, I would've been out there two weeks ago or something," Williamson said "It was just good to get back out there."

Gentry said that while Williamson did everything the team did on Thursday it was still a light practice by their standards. The Pelicans are set to travel to the West Coast on Thursday afternoon for a Friday game against the Los Angeles Lakers and a Saturday contest against the Sacramento Kings.

When asked if Williamson could play on the upcoming road trip, Gentry said, "No. That won't happen. I'm pretty sure of that one." Gentry also added that the team does not have a date in mind for when Williamson will play in a game, but they are monitoring his progress in practice to see when the best time for that will be.

Weird PR that Zion keeps saying he could play weeks ago and the Pels organization is so vague.

Not so weird. They've said since they overrode their own timeline that they were being overly cautious. Zion coul've been playing.

He says if it were up to him he would've

Then in his next sentence he said he also has to realize he's only 19 and he has to look towards longevity.

Then in his next comment he made it sound like he was holding himself out a little also, when asked if he had a date in mind he said it will just be one of those things that when he wakes up that morning he will know, and he will tell Griif, Trajan, Gentry and the training staff it's time to get back out there

I don't see thise things as necessarily contradictory. He wants to be playing, but he understands that protecting his future is important.

Part of the process he is going through involves his honest communication with our training staff about exactly how his body feels. Having him feel as though he's 100% back has to be part of the equation.

I know he's not contradicting anything, just giving the full quote for everyone that sees just that part
