Just wanted to give a heads up. Looks like Griffin’s rehabilitation and goodwill benefit media tour for New Orleans basketball is continuing.

Just updated my podcast list and it looks like Griffin is on Woj’s podcast. Looks to be a 45 minute interview or thereabout.

Will try and update any key points when I get through it.

I listened at the gym. Some notes:

- First thing that caught my ear was Griff said they took the decision out of ADs hands as soon as they realized he couldn't be all in. Said we decided to move on - I love it.

- He also said about the AD situation, paraphrasing - At some point we stop selling our organization to people who don't know if they want to be here and focus on building a family of people that buy into what we're doing. We knew after our conversation that Anthony wasn't into that.

- Woj said Griff got multiple good offers for Jrue from contenders but wouldn't listen.

- Griff doesn't give a shite about super teams, he thinks they are building a culture people want to be a part of.

- Compares our core to Golden State in that they came up together and had to learn how to lose AND win together. The importance of that Steph, Klay, Dray core coming up together and how they didn't even need KD.

- The dude talks about Alvin so damn highly. He's gotten me excited about a coach we've had for years like it's a new addition. Alvin focused on developing and coaching is lethal.

That's what I remember off top. It's a great listen. The man could motivate Hendo to run a 5k.

He is the reason the media and ESPN no longer see us as a complete joke of an organization and like what is going on. We need them to stay on our side.

This guy is incredible, I'm sure the Suns and Cavs really regret letting him go at this point. Griffin for Mayor of Nola!!

Another interesting nugget I caught was when Griff was heaping praise on the character and leadership of the vets being counted on as cornerstones for a winning culture, he of course mentioned Jrue, Redick, Favors and...E'tuan Moore! And described Moore as a "high caliber human being".

Griff sounded pretty determined to build this family with Moore squarely in it as much as the other vets.

Pels Talk might as well put their Trade Machines back in the attic if it's only being used to ship out Moore.

Moore - I think he sees him as a shooter and we need that unless something else comes around that makes more sense.

If Moore was making 5m everyone would think he is on a great deal, He's an asset if healthy.

Honestly I interpreted that in two ways.

One is what you said, but just as plausible is Griffin talking up the character, leadership, and qualities of a player that likely has gotten lost in the shuffle but they want to remind the market can be a valuable asset.

That's very plausible.

Yep, I think Moore is more highly valued by the coaching staff and by Griff than he seems to be on this board.

He's still a great deal at 8 imho

The issue is we have a logjam of guards.

It’s not shocking or unusual for Griffin to talk about Moore in that manner. By all accounts we know Moore is is a high character guy.

I always expected Moore to have an important role early on as he is familiar with the offense and offers stability for all the new parts. But talent is talent. And we have a lot of talent on that bench. At some point during the season, the talent will take his minutes or he’s traded to free up minutes for the young talent.

Guys like Hart and NAW should earn their minutes as the season progresses and that will allow us to phase Moore out or ship him out by the deadline.

moore is the most expendable asset on the team. you think just cause griff had some nice things to say about him he's not getting dealt?

I've never felt more confident about this team than I do now. It's just crazy how this organization changed so much in such a short period of time. I'd honestly be shocked if we never became a contender at any point during Zion's time here. Whereas before I never really expected us to contend...ever.

I think we would be putting it up until about January simply because we aren’t likely to move Moore by himself.

Moore plus Miller plus other parts means one big contract coming back.

We're in good position to either buy or sell at the trade deadline, depending on how we're doing. If we're headed for the playoffs, then we package Moore and Miller and something else to get a top player. If we're not doing well, we could sell Ingram or Favors or both for assets.

I see Ingram moving if it is clear we aren’t going to pay him what he wants.

If it is clear he won’t be making that next step soon, may as well get something for him than let him walk as an RFA. Someone will pay him $20m plus based on potential. I don’t want it to be us if he isn’t realizing that potential by the deadline.

Favors? It sounds like Griff wants to keep him on the team past this contract.

By having his Bird rights, we have the ability to work out a favorable contract, such as one that is front-loaded then declines 8% per season, meaning his contract is smaller by the time Hayes is ready to start.

Griff always says the right thing. Moore is a revolving door on defense and clearly doesn't fit the scheme long term. BUT he's a guy that very well may be a good ambassador for the young ones on living in New Orleans.

He's an expiring and there's, IMO, a less than 1% chance he's a Pel next year.
