re: Windhorst: Pels still not interested in a deal with the Lakers
Two things.

One - Three player draft in this case means “there’s a huge drop off in talent past the third player off the board”

Two - There may be other talented players but they either aren’t separating themselves from the pack or they are considered high risk high reward.

For the purposes of trading AD, I would much rather get a player we feel has a lot of talent and value than just randomly trade him for a handful of scratch off tickets and hope to get a huge payoff.

Isn't scratch off tickets all the Knicks offer is? None of the current players they could send move the needle the way an Ingram (if healthy) can.

If you really believe in whoever is there at #3, great. I get it.

But if you don't see much of a difference between #3 and #4, then the Knicks offer is weak. Dallas picks are nice chips, but they might be in the 20s w/ Doncic + Porzingis + Carlisle.

I think you have more to work with as far as moving pieces around with the Knicks deal.
futures are always more valuable than names

more ammo as it were

pels are going to be not good next year if they trade Davis.
I’d rather have those Mavericks and future Knicks picks to throw around

That's a fair point. Definitely would be more enthused about Knicks package if the Pels didn't land at #1 or if I felt really good about Barrett

you know Barrett as Harrison Barnes wouldn’t be all that bad.
I’d actually happily call that a win

Lakers May have to trade Ball for pick 7 and Ingram along with pick 4 for pick 3 then a package of 3,7, and Kuzma might get Davis.

If the Knicks' plan is to trade for AD, why would they deal with LA and swing a deal with them that makes them a better trading partner for us than they are?

That pretty much requires New York to drop out of the trade market and decide that there are two players between 4 and 7 who are worth more to them than either Barrett or Ja at 3.

EDIT - Misread the deal, same sentiment.

I don't see the Knicks taking Ingram, who is banged up and coming up on a new contract, to move back a spot unless they pull out of the AD derby and they see a player they like at 4 as much or more than Barrett or Ja at 3.

I don’t See why people are forgetting about Hunter and Culver. I think they will both be very good. I don’t See why Barrett is heads and tails ahead of them.

Ingram is going to want a max contract in like a year. So will Ball. Kuzma won’t want much less. Cost control cost control cost control.

The knicks give us Knox and Robinson on extraordinary cost control for 3 years. Plus great assets with the two Dallas picks and their own first rounders. We then have flexibility to either keep drafting guys, or package all of that for a superstar.

The knicks package is head and shoulders better to me.
