Why does Marcus Thornton get no playing time?

Does he not fit Monty's system? I have heard from some people in trade rumors but I'm curious if there is any inside information

well that would be a good reason. thanks

Haha you got me. It has to be more than "he doesnt play defense because D. West never plays defense. I was there tonight and just felt that Marcus would bring a spark to a seemingly lackluster bench.

Willie Green can do no wrong in Monty's eye. He's even trying to play Jack and CP3 together to make it work.

Probably because he hasn't been that good the last couple of games he was in. I'm not hating on the guy, I was even rooting for him to start before the season started, but you gotta call it like it is. I know Green makes a lot of bad plays, but he is cleary more reliable than Thornton. What annoys the shite out of me is when the Thornton fanboys will watch a game and see Green make 4 good plays, then 1 bad play and talk about how shitty Green is, then watch Thornton make 4 bad plays, and one good play and talk abot how Thornton should be playing more. OR, when Green throws up a bad shot, he's a black hole; but when Thornton does it, the shot just didn't fall like it should have.

Dude!
couldn't have said it any better

Monty Williams hates winning, that's why

I have yet to see Thornton make 4 bad plays this year so your whole argument is bullshite. And your Monty Williams arse licking annoys the shite out of me.
ETA: The losing streak, lack of attendance, and Chouest pulling his offer are all due to Thornton's lack of playing time. But Willie Green is a strong defender.

No it's not, it may be exaggerated but it's not bullshite. Green has been playing solid overall and the Thornton groupies want to make it seem like he's terrible while ignoring that Thornton has been fairly ordinary in most of the minutes he has been able to get.

you have some really solid takes , and then post some shite that make me think you have a split personality or something
I have watched MT play all year , and lately he seems to force up shite 1 on 3.....believe me it pains me to say it , but Willie is a waaaay better option than MT at this point.

You're an idiot.
None of what you said has any impact on how many minutes Thornton gets.
Demps: Hey guys, Chouest pulled the offer
Monty: Alright cool, then I'm not going to play Marcus tonight. How many tickets have we sold so far?
Demps: Only 10k.
Williams: Yeah, definitely not playing him.
I'm sure that's how it went.
If you haven't seem Marcus make 4 bad plays ALL YEAR then you either
A. haven't been watching
B. are an idiot and don't know what you are watching
C. have Marcus' cock shoved so far down your throat you refuse to admit when he does any wrong.
There's no Monty arse licking here, did you even see me mention his name? Sure Monty has made mistakes when coaching, but I do think overall he's done a good job. Your Thornton cock gargling annoys the shite out of me. The fact that you blame attendance, Couest, and losing streak over his actual play as reason for not receiving playing time shows how fricking stupid you are.

When he learns to play defense like Monty wants, he'll get more minutes.

this is a joke post, right?

Joke? No. Exaggeration? Yes.
It's mostly a response to one person who repeatedly said they're proving they can win without Thornton when they were winning games against the clippers and kings. When I said it wouldn't continue, the response was we've won 10 out of 11. Now after losing 6 of 8, the response is that he wouldn't have made a difference anyway.
Anyway, I'm done with this argument.

Of course it wouldn't continue. It wouldn't have continued if Thornton was the full time starter averaging 25ppg. Dominant teams in the NBA end up around .750 - .800 We were playing .900 ball, anyone who thought we'd end the season much above .650 was fooling themselves.

No the response was Monty had the team playing well with a focus on defense first so if he didn't feel Thornton played defense well enough, or was trying to develop him into a better player long term, 10 games in was not enough time to judge it as a bad move. I still don't think you can call it a bad move because except for one game Thornton hasn't taken advantage of his minutes and Willie Green has produced well enough that you can't say "what the hell is he doing getting minutes". Too bad Thornton can't play PG because that's where the opportunity for minutes has been.

Reasons MT5 doesn't play more:
1)Green is Monty's guy
a)He has a good grasp on the defensive scheme
b)they've known each other for years
2)Thornton lacks the knowledge of defense.Veteran players have to direct on where to be.
3)Monty would rather lose with good d than win with bad d and good o.
Thornton has a much higher ceiling and can make plays including setting up others that Green just can't,but until he understands where he needs to be he won't get a chance to unleash his scoring onslaught.
