He actually broke his foot before the season started.

Cj doesn't count---he was hurt

Dare I say Ochai Agbaji is who people think Mathurin is
I've said it for weeks now, but I could see Griffin trying to replicate last year's draft success by going with Agbaji (and perhaps even trading back a few spots to do so).

Those expectations seem pretty unrealistic considering our current roster situation.
what is our current roster situation? Are you telling me we can't draft someone that deserves more minutes than Jose?
Obviously everyone loves Jose, but people need to accept who he is, and if a rookie comes in and takes some of his minutes, it's b/c he's better.
I love Herb, but you do realize that we can draft a guy that could start over him, or at the least, take some of his minutes?
We just assume Trey is going to be better than whoever we draft?
Who on this team is not going to give up minutes?
Zion
BI
Probably JV, although you could see his minutes reduced, which i hope they are and we see a little more of Nance at the 5. I don't expect Jaxson to be on the roster to start the season.
Is CJ going to play 35 mpg, or do we try to preserve his aging body a little more and keep him around 28-30mpg?
There's plenty of minutes to be given to a deserving rookie, even with our roster.
Naji is going to get consistent minutes this year with the roster as is, unless we draft someone who is better, and they will take his minutes, and if they are good enough, eat into a few other players as well.
again, if you're good enough, any team will find the minutes for you to play.
Stop with this stupid mindset that we don't have the minutes available for Mathurin to play, or any rookie to play.

didn't know that.
I retract my previous post that it was an excellent answer.

Yes, I think you're really underrating Jose. Jose may only do a few things well, but those things are winning things. Rookies, even top 5 picks, rarely impact winning.
Win Shares/48 (.100 is an average NBA player)
Cade -.011
Green .015
Mobley .107
Barnes .122
Suggs -.060
Giddey .010
Kuminga .123
Wagner .079
Mitchell .003
Williams .080
Herb .096
Jose .121
Only 3 of the top 10 picks this year were average NBA player or better level in terms of impacting winning. Some of these players are WAY below average. Whoever we draft at 8 is unlikely to be an average player as a rookie. If you're a playoff team focused on winning, why would you play a below average player if you didn't have to?

For sure, but I think it’s still fair to assume he isn’t there at 8

Win shares can be severely impacted by the quality of your team. I don’t believe for a second that if Cade and Jose swapped spots, Cade would still be a -.011 and Jose a .121.

Branham should shoot up the board with those confirmed measurements.
