1) Resign Cousins and Rondo and more or less run it back. If you add a new player it would at best be a rotation player like James Ennis.
2) Cousins walks and the Pels only make a minimal addition in FA, like resign Rondo and add Will Barton
3) Cousins leaves in a S&T sending at least a starting caliber player back to the Pels
4) #1 Plus Demps makes an offseason trade like Hill/Ajinca/1st for DeMarre Carroll
5) Add a Star level player like LeBron or Paul George

I'm betting on #1. I just don't think other teams are that interested in Cousins coming off a ruptured Achilles.

#metoo

i think DMC will not get a 4/5 year max offer and will settle for a 3 year deal here. rondo signs without using the MLE, and a deadline trade is made to move ajinca/something else for something better but not needle-moving

before the season pels will sign a back-up PG and another big on minimums. they will start in the tax and see where the season goes.

#1 is probably the most likely scenario, especially after realizing the difficulty in the sign and trade scenario.

#2 is probably the second most likely scenario, IMO.

ETA: you may be right about no one wanting to go in on Cousins after the injury, though. Especially when his current team is floating 3/75 out there. Other teams have to see that as a negative. The team that knows the most about his situation, is concerned enough to not throw a 4 year deal out there.

#1 is likely to happen, and it would be nice if we somehow found a way to turn Ajinca into a young player, saving some cap space. I would love to get Taurean Prince, doubt we could get him, but it would be nice if we could dump Ajinca and get someone like Dinwiddie or some young player out of Chicago without giving up too too much. If we make a trade this offseason, i'd like it to be for a young player that we know can play, and to a team that can absorb some salary from us, like Chicago/Atlanta/Brooklyn.

I know Solo sucked it up, but i think he can improve this offseason and get back to being a decent player. He just looked lost out there, and like he wasn't up to speed with the game after sitting out so long.
Would rather have him on the team this year, and look to move him next year when he's expiring, unless there's a trade out there that nets us a sure fire starter. I would like to get Carroll, but i just think getting rid of Solo and AJinca for him doesn't help us that much, and we lose assets in the process. If there's a way to trade Ajinca/Diallo/2nd for some young player, i'd like to see that.

If we can somehow make it to next offseason without giving up our 2019 first, that would be great. I don't see the point in trading that pick unless by doing so makes us considerably better, as in top 6 team in the league. we got considerably better trading Asik and the 1st. Go into next offseason with our 2019 and 2020 pick, and expiring Solo/Moore for that upcoming year.

Yes, he deleted his twitter again and he and Ryan are retiring the podcast. Hopefully Crewz will stop by from time to time and drop some info.

Sources have also told me Loomis was unhappy with the massive deal Demps gave Omer Asik. Bidding against themselves in 2015, Demps just gave Asik one of the worst contracts in recent NBA history. I’ve been told numerous times the fiscally irresponsible Asik deal nearly cost Dell his job.

as it should have

While I’d absolutely hate for the Pelicans to lose E’Twaun Moore, he is coming off a career season and has nice value. I could easily see the Philadelphia 76ers giving up pick No. 26 overall in the first round for Moore. New Orleans would get a first-round selection and clear almost $9 million.

I would love to see this for the right player like a Melvin Frasier. Turning Moore into a promising player on a rookie deal always seemed like a move that has to happen for salary management reasons. The problem is if you do that now, how do you replace Moore? I don't think Ajinca + 2 2nds would be enough for say Justin Holiday or Garret Temple. This team has too much on the line to risk taking a step back, and absorbing a guy like Fournier, while I think he's a good fit, basically undoes the salary pruning you just did by trading Moore.

The timing. You could probably get either for Ajinca + Cash at the deadline. But between now and the deadline both players have potential to be neutral salary filler in a bigger deal.

He or the Big Ragu, Donte Divencenzo. I think Donte is going to be legit, and a lot of people will regret passing on him.

He’s a malcontent that’s never been to the playoffs that is coming off one of the worst injuries a basketball player can have. I wouldn’t expect teams to be beating down his door.

If the Pels offer is in the 3/$75 ball park you probably need to offer either 3/$85-$90 or 4/$100 to beat the Pels offer and sign him. If he's not himself, which he probably won't be, especially the first year, you just saddled yourself with the worst contract in the league. What team is desperate enough to do that?

It's one thing to take that risk when it's your player and the other option is he walks and leaves you with nothing. But if you aren't already attached to Boogie and have $30 million in actual cap space to spend, surely adding 2-3 quality players for the same money would be the wiser decision.

I personally expect 1+1 and 2+1 offers at best. Can see 1 year max offer from Lakers and two years from Mavs also at max
