If you don't think a powerful black man exercising his power in a public setting doesn't some ruffle feathers, you must have been living in cave the last 12 years.

And, again, I think the way they handled the trade demand was dumb and they deserve scorn and vitriol for that.

“Exercising his power” was demanding the trade.

“Having a fricking temper tantrum” was going public and blaming Dell because he felt disrespected because they wanted to talk to AD before trading their franchise star.

Stunningly terrible take. We can say race has some impact on EVERYTHING because there will always be prejudiced and racist people. There are people that hate someone because they are white or Asian or black or Dutch.

To assert that it has some significant impact on THIS story, aka the fans being upset because of the confluence of events, is not only wrong, it is extremely offensive.

We are only talking about THIS story.

The Pels had a black GM, a black coach, and we probably have the blackest fan base in the league in terms of in-arena attendance....but yeah we’re racist bc “the south.”

The attempt is to try and make Gayle and Loomis into the face of racism, IMHO, which isn’t going to work.

Neglecting the NBA team in favor of the NFL team owned by the family for 30+ years isn’t racism, no matter how much people may want to claim it.

I don't think it has to do with his race, it has to do with the tactics that he used. He was very unprofessional, which probably stems from the fact that he's inexperienced.

As a Black Man I'm Pissed!

So now the Anthony Davis and Klutch Sports sends surrogate with The Race Smokescreen?

What A Cowardice Move!
Anthony Davis is disliked by Pelicans fans because he pulled a BS move! Not Racism!
If you sabotage your team's season by demanding to be traded Publicly and in Midseason, you've not only betrayed your teammates, you've shown little respect for the Pelican fanbase's hard earned and limited funds they've spent to supplement your immense salary .....
AD and Klutch Sports, Put Your Big Boy Pants On!
There Will Be Repercussions!

Gayle got pissed when the outcry was our medical operations... much less that we're a bunch of racists treating AD unfairly cause of that.

Sure. Racism exists. There are hints and edges of it in a great many things in life, even when white people may not realize their unconscious racism in their actions. And it's incredibly hurtful. Even though I'm white, I know a little bit about that pain, because my parents disowned me when I married a nonwhite woman, and they didn't even see my daughter until she was five.

But the problem is that when everything is racist, then nothing is. The problem is that, when white people are falsely accused of racism, they are sometimes less concerned about fixing real racism, because they feel that they'll be labeled as racists whether it's true or not.

That's why these Ramona Shelburne comments are so wrong -- racism is hurtful, but falsely accusing someone of racism is also hurtful. And she didn't just accuse someone -- she accused our entire fanbase. She needs to apologize to the people of New Orleans.

These are my only 2 points

1- Rich Paul has seen criticism in his career, some fair, some unfair. Some of that unfair criticism is surely because of who he is and how he arrived to his current position.

2- The way Davis's exit was handled was wrong and deserving of scorn.

Ramona went way over her skis here. That's not in dispute. Paul and Davis deserve virtriol for handling it poorly.

All I said was that Rich Paul has been the victim of racial discrimination in previous instances.

RP was getting targeted for being an a-hole and for being LeBron’s hand picked flunky.

He could be purple with polka dots and it wouldn’t change WHY people don’t like him.

Agreed, but that doesn't have to be because of racism. He's an outsider, not because he's black, but because of the route he took to the position that he is in.
