Agreed. He’s not who I want at all. He sucked as GM of the Bucks and the Warriors I’m really not sure how truly instrumental he was.

Yeah, I also wouldn't want him to over value GSs assets when it comes to evaluating an AD trade.

Wat. GS won’t even be in the consideration.

Coaching name to watch if Langdon gets the job: Ettore Messina - Was Langdon's coach in Moscow and they won a few titles together. Spurs family, would get thumbs up from Sean Marks. Would make a ton of sense.

Other than Messina being almost 60, I like it.

Messina used to get brought up on here a lot as a potential coach. Wouldn’t hate it

Was also wondering about Langdon's G League coach, but it looks like he's' taking one of the top jobs in the Australian league

If Becky Hammon was a man and had the same resume, she wouldn't even be considered. She still has dues to pay. For example, Ime Udoka has a far more impressive resume on that bench, and obviously Messina does as well.

Hammon won't be the coach, and it won't be because she is being held down by some unfair system

Did we not learn from the Gentry/Walton debacle, that it’s not the staff winning games over there it’s the players.

The argument for Becky Hammom has positives.

1. It's a McVay type hire. She's <7 years removed from playing and this is the right situation for it. Jrue is a perfect leader for first female head coach considering his personal story. Popovich raves about her. Paying her dues is bullshite. Alvin Gentry paid his dues. If she can coach, we shouldn't give a frick if she doesn't have a dick.

2. The NBA in New Orleans has always had star power and as much as we love Jrue, he's not gonna endear us nationally. Breaking that barrier would keep the Pels in the headlines.

Also, NBA players are progressive. Get over it, it wouldn't be a bad move. You're not sexist for thinking it might be, but it's got its merits.

I don’t agree with anything you said other than NBA players are progressive.

How is Becky Hammon a Sean McVay type hire? Is she regarded as an offensive genius with a revolutionary system? Does she remember every detail of every game she has been a part of? Has she changed anything about the team she is currently coaching? McVay was special not because of his age but because of what he was capable of as a coach. I also don’t care about what her head coach says publicly. Do you honestly think a politically progressive man like Pop would ever say a negative word about the first female assistant coach in league history? Has any head coach ever said anything negative about one of their assistants publically when it comes to getting a job?

I don’t want my coach to be the star who brings national attention to my team. Who cares if you are on national tv because of a publicity stunt? Does the national media rave over Malone or Stotts? What about McMillan or Atkinson? I want someone who can help identify talent, put that talent into a system, get 100% buy in, and develop a winner.

Becky Hammon might end up being a good coach but none of the “merits” you brought up will be why. If, after an extensive search with private interviews and background work, they choose her I will support it. But it better be because she can coach and not because she is a woman.

If someone that actually worked with her and knows her wants to hire her because they think she’s a great coach and fit, fine. But fans don’t know enough to be qualified to elevate her in their minds like they have. As others have said, if she were a man she’d need a lot more of a resume to get this kind of consideration. And maybe if she were a man we’d have heard more about what makes her a good coach. But we haven’t so people need to stop acting like a good story is a qualification for being a good coach.
