The guy hasn’t even started basketball activities. I think post new year is more to be expected at this point.

Do you really need more than, say, 2 weeks of practice coming back from a torn meniscus?

Especially given that he's a rookie on a bad team, they can ease him in minutes wise.

Does not compute.

Is basketball activities the first step in his return or the last one? Because he hasn’t been sitting around all this time. They’ve been rehabbing. Probably doing work in a pool and light weight training.

He’s not a freaking month away. Hell. They’re saying he’s itching to get back out there. Sounds like he’s healed but they’re taking it extra slow.

I’m starting to think Reggie Miller knew something after all! But if it was more serious why keep shining fans on why keep saying things are “ on schedule?” That’s just setting your fans up for (another) demoralizing let down.

Also, FWIW I had a knee scope for a torn meniscus a few years ago and am almost as heavy as Zion. I was back to playing sports after six weeks rehab with no ill effects. Know it’s not the same as pro basketball, but I was also much older. Zion’s not even working out on the court yet? That seems off based on my experience. Seems more is going on.

Your personal experience legit could not have any less relevance to Zion's situation. It's just not the same.

You're kidding yourself if you don't think Zion can go out right now and play basketball at the Rec with little noticeable effects.

Zion should be the tank leader from the bench, BI can get behind the wheel, and Lonzo is the gunner launching 10 3s a game

People who expect him to be back soon are going to be disappointed. He’s going to have to be cleared to practice, get back into game shape, and still needs to be cleared for contact before coming back. They’re going to take their sweet ole time on this.

This is all sketchy... I am starting to think he will not play until Feburary or March

no it's not sketchy

they are trying to project that this staff has everything under control (& have people trust them), while both managing fan/media expectations & not pressuring your 19 year old franchise player back too early

its quite simple to see what they are doing

fwiw, I've heard that he's had no setbacks and that he should begin practicing VERY soon

Reggie knew nothing. He didn't talk to anyone that knew Zion or anyone in charge of his rehab. It was pure speculation

you are not the cornerstone of an entire franchise. look at how many games players on this team are missing. it has more to do with the mindset that the training staff is being way overly cautious with all of their players, that goes even more for Zion Williamson

Then explain why they put a 6-8 week notice on him and not indefinitely.

Also explain how this dude might play in 12 days and has not even stepped on a court yet

I agree in principle with what you saying but let the fans know, instead of saying run around comments

I am waiting for the day when they finally say, he will be out until all star break or the entire season.

Now we wait and see when JJ will be traded

I see virtually no way he meets the 8 week timeline if he hasnt stepped foot on the court.

Why did they draft that kid. I have said it before I will say it again. Why the f*** don't they draft someone that can help Nola get some where like ja morrant, the guy is dominant and not injured too often. I'd fire the person making these draft decisions. It's like they don't have a brain.

It's probably going to be nine weeks. Not the end of the world.

I love Ja Morant just as much as the next person but did you see Zion in the pre season? Passing on him is the type of decision that would get you fired. This guy was making Rudy fricking Gobert look like a regular person and defender. The only thing that will stop him from being a superstar is if he has health issues. I’m sure his knee will be fine.

Because 6-8 weeks is the amount of time it takes for the cartilage to heal. Then he has to get on the court, get his conditioning back, and feel comfortable being the high-flying player he is
