Trajan Langdon: "We want to win, but we want to build this team the right way, with the right people... I don't think you can be in a win-now mode when you're trying to build the right culture.... You can't skip steps. That was one thing we did in Brooklyn (that worked)."
Shamit Dua
Langdon: "When I walked into Brooklyn, it was our first time having a G-League team as well. A lot of the things we are going to do in Eerie are going to mirror the things we will do in New Orleans."
Shamit Dua
Mentions how the distance will present a challenge but they will be committed to bringing in the right people to run the organization.

#Pelicans new GM Trajan Langdon says he was lured away from a playoff team in Brooklyn and to New Orleans in part by challenge of winning where no one outside the organization and city thinks they can.
Jim Eichenhofer
Asked about speculation on possible hesitation by No. 1 draft pick on coming to New Orleans, David Griffin said, "I'm certain that's a false narrative." Griffin added #Pelicans met with Zion Williamson and Ja Morant. Both are "thrilled at the concept of coming to New Orleans"

More Griffin on Zion Williamson and Ja Morant: "I think because we've sat with those kids, who are both incredible human beings and all about all the right things, we know unequivocally that either one of them would be thrilled to join us in New Orleans."
Shamit Dua
Langdon mentions that the narrative in the past around the Pelicans was that it "hasn't been good enough". Says ownership realizes and they are excited to build a sustainable culture going forward.
Brett Martel
Pelicans basketball ops chief Griffin on plans to meet with Anthony Davis: "The next step really is to look each other in eye and talk about what’s important to us. ... We’re very confident we have a compelling situation for him here."
David M. Grubb
Griffin: Will meet with AD in LA around the draft workout period. “If winning is indeed what he is all about, we are creating the right environment for Anthony.”
Oleh Kosel
David Griffin stepped in to praise Trajan Langdon's connections and knowledge internationally and how much of an asset they'll be to the Pelicans franchise. Also said international players tend to appreciate a city like New Orleans. Nola should become a destination city.

Griffin: "It's become something (The Pelicans) that is very clearly her (Benson) baby. She's really putting her money where her mouth is with these hires"

Griffin on the pressure of number 1 picks: "The timeline changes somewhat. I don't think expectations change internally. The number 1 pick doesn't mean anything if you don't get it right"

Mentioned that there might be external pressure, but it won't change the way they operate or internal expectations. Said he doesn't expect a single player to be a savior and that they are focused on developing people the right way.

Griffin is not putting the pressure on the #1 pick to save the franchise. More concerned with cultural fit and creating success.

I love this. Tom saved nola basketball by buying the team, but Gayle is the one that will be responsible for nola basketball thriving. Tom likely saw the team as a revenue and local power/influence generator and not much more. Gayle has a different mindset.

Griffin-Langdon is going to be a fantastic front office duo for a very long time

its a weird feeling to have hope that's realistic & isn't misplaced
I love that Trajan is coming in as we start our first year with a G-League team. I love that we have Nelson to work with a talent like Zion. I love that there is a long-term goal instead of short-term fixes. I love that Griffin is putting out these narratives about how committed Gayle is and squashing idiotic takes like Zion doesn't want to be here.
Is this really happening?

I hope Rich Paul likes the taste of nutsack because D Griffin is dragging his set all over the narrative that Klutch leaked out....

I’m not sure RP et all are savvy enough to realize they are being teabagged.
