Dallas is ramping up trade talks for DSJ, but they want to send Mathews out also.. Orlando and Phoenix are the most interested in him, with Detroit also.. We should attempt to jump in and make a 3 team deal

Orlando: DSJ, Wes Johnson
Dal: Moore, Randle
Pels: Mathews, Ross

Phoenix:DSJ, Hill
Dal: Randle, Wes
Pels: Mathews, TJ Warren

Detroit:DSJ, Hill
Dal: Moore, Randle
Pels: Mathews, Jackson, Kleber

I know we would probably have to throw in at least a couple 2nds in each deal, but they all work salary wise

Why would the Pelicans even consider this deal?

Question for the crowd:

Same exact team, same injuries we had up until this point. Everything the same with one exception - Barnes is on the team instead of Hill this season. Whats the Pels record right now?

This isn't possible so what does it matter. That's basically saying "how much better would we be if we had a guy that scored 18ppg instead of 3." Of course we'd be better. But we couldnt have this same team with barnes so that's a useless debate.

Its a thought exercise. The poster says Barnes is essentially worthless. I disagree. As we have seen, Elfrid Payton is not an above avg basketball player but going from Frazier to him makes a world of difference. Wouldn't Hill and Wes to Barnes do the same? Or even Hill and Moore?

My point is that no player we will acquire will be without flaws, but like Elfrid, going from dreadful to competent is enough on this team to go from 10 seed to 3 seed

Well, last season or this offseason they were interested in Jackson, so...

Harrison Barnes makes 25 million a year.

Adding him makes our thin team thinner. So I don’t see it equating to wins no matter who has a hard on for him in the front office

Say youre turning:

Hill
Moore
Johnson
And a 1st

Into barnes. Is that depth gonna take a hit by swapping for Barnes?

Your guards would be Payton, holiday, Jackson, and clark/frazier

Your wings would be Barnes and miller

Your bigs would be Davis, Randle, Niko, and okafor

You can trade Hill, Wes and a minimum player for him with the pick. Or even if you have to give them Moore, it's one rotation player for one rotation player. So how would that make the team thinner?

might be time to get something for moore now anyway...he's playing like shite and his deal is still the only halfway positive veteran asset we have

With the way he is playing, I don't know if its a positive asset at all. I have never seen a player fall off so much in a matter of a month. I didn't expect the guy to keep up what he was doing, but I didn't expect him to fall off this much either.

Because I don’t think Dallas is going to take the worst possible deal out there for a max contract player.

To get him, the Pels would have to sweeten the pot.

I didn’t want to start a new thread on this so I’ll put it here.
Anyone know the reason why Wes Johnson doesn’t get any minutes? Is hill and miller that much better?
I’ve seen enough of hill to know he isn’t very good.
Miller is so up and down it drives me crazy. He doesn’t do anything well besides shoot and when he is gets cold it’s reallllllllll bad.
I know Wes isn’t very good either but he has size and seems to defend decent in the little time he played..

My eye test thought he was adequate, but he has the worst NetRtg on the team. I didn’t watch much during the holidays when they lost a lot. He must have played pretty bad in that stretch.

I started this is another thread, but if you are willing to give up the 1st for Barnes, would you call Orlando first and see what picks it would take for the same package for Aaron Gordon first?

Hill is a cap number...if Demps would have to attach a pick, Moore and Jackson at worst to get Barnes.

Now if they’d throw DSJ into the deal.

Why would Orlando be trading Gordon? He is primarily a 4 though, so would there be another deal as well?

Because the GM didn't draft him and Bamba/Isaac is their frontcourt of the future while Vuc has been playing great. I do not think they are fully bought into Gordon and he is having some growing pains this year with the new system.

I think you could play Gordon, Niko, and AD together since Gordon can guard the 3 and Niko is a low usage spacer offensively, but I would probably look to move Niko since we can't pay him if we invest in Gordon.
