He's always been a man of character, but wanting him gone was business and he understands that.

I just wish we would have canned Demps first instead.

That man has a great attitude in a truly terrible situation for his and the other family.

Shame it couldn't work out for him here. God bless you Monty Williams.

I truly believe he will be a head coach again. The way this team has taken a step back is a bump to his resume. If Gentry could get another head coaching gig, Monty shouldn't have a problem.

I hate to bring it up, but there were a number of posters on here that talked about what an a-hole MW was to his neighbors in Old Metairie.

Those posters should indeed feel like assholes if they're even still here.

I was as happy as anyone when we fired him and now I regret it so much. He is a great man and when he hugged his family after making the playoffs I felt so happy for him.

True. It would appear that Demps was a bigger part of the problem than Monty, but there were alot of bone headed coaching decisions and other infuriating things that Monty did. So I don't feel bad about him getting fired because that is just part of the business, but he was, still is, and probably always will be a class act.

I think majority of us here would be willing to put up another year of Monty-[new GM] if we knew it was ultimately going to be Gentry-Demps.

I tried to avoid looking back. Hindsight might be 20/20 but in my experience hindsight has more of an distorting effect than beer googles.

I feel so bad. God I wish he was still our coach and this would've never happened.

I still can't believe we canned him for uncle Al and a terrible record.

He exemplifies everything a man should be.

If there is a heaven Monty is blessed and going there. I wish I was infected with his maturity, wisdom, and heart. I could spend the rest of my life trying and still fall short of the person this man appears to be.

Ok, it was me who down voted. Totally an accident at 5:30 am 1/2 asleep.

I couldn't agree more about him as part of our organization. Watching the eulogy, somehow I was hoping he was still our coach. Prayers to him, his family, and per his request - the family of the other person involved in the wreck.

Service for Ingrid Williams held .... longer version of Monty talking ... 7 minutes long... from Yahoo!

that is a real f'n man right there.
there are times when we probably viewed his stoicism as lack of passion.
We were wrong.

I agree he said the right thing and I feel sorry for him for his loss but that doesn't change how he acted towards some people while coaching in NO. One was a friend of mine. And there were other stories too. I personally have no issues with Monty but what he did in the past doesn't change now that he lost his wife as tragic as that is. I pray both him and his family find peace.
