the other thing about DG is that he has two more fully guaranteed years at that 12MM. Nobody is going to trade for him unless we attach a 1st. Next year, it’s on if we need to get rid of him

it’s temple for liddells spot and maybe Hayes if they want to get freaky. Graham is here this year

correct. We are less than $1M away from the tax once Dyson signs, and that's 15 roster spots filled.

I would very much like to swap Jax for Bamba, but we'd need to send out someone else too that Orlando can absorb for us.

And i'm not giving Bamba anything over MLE type money. Sign him to a 3/$30 with an option on the 3rd year, and send them Jax and see if they actually want Graham. I know some of you think he has negative value, but i don't think he does. There's teams out there that would want him. They only have like 8 guys under roster that are even NBA players, so they have a lot of work to do in FA. They aren't bringing back Gary Harris and i'm sure they are looking to send Ross out.

You’d have to get rid of Jonas to be able to sign him and while he’s a better 3 point shooter than Jonas i would still rather JV and it’s not really close. That is unless they can work a trade for Jax and then hope that’s enough to sign Bamba which I doubt it will be.

Yeah, I think it's something like ~500k in space remaining if they sign EJ to a deal similar to Herb's last season using part of the MLE.

Looking at our cap sheet for next offseason, we almost have to move Jax at some point this season, unless he shows that he can be a starting 5 in this league (doubtful). Even if Zion just gets the standard 25% max and doesn't escalate (which it would be pretty disappointing if he doesn't hit the benchmark), we're looking at something in the ballpark of 165 mil next offseason (assuming we extend Nance for roughly 10 mil). That's not even including the 6+ mil that we're going to have to pay next years top 10 first round pick that we get from the Lakers.

The salary crunch makes it even that much more likely that we're going to sign EJ to a guaranteed contract using partial MLE because we need low paying contracts on players who will contribute.

Ok, not expecting that one.

I figured they wouldn’t keep him but wouldn’t renounce him so that they could get something from a team looking to sign him.

If we can find a way to move both Temple and Jax, I’m up for this.

Bamba had a solid year, but as someone that doesn’t watch the Magic regularly, the moment I recall from his season the most was a preseason game against the Pelicans. Jonas fouled out Bamba over a span of literally like 7 minutes of play. It was hilarious.

Yep, realistically we can only take on long term salary (in this case more than 1 year of salary), if we're sending out long term salary (would think the only likely candidate here would be Graham if they want to go that route).

Seems to me like they'll probably hold pat this offseason, maybe just waiving Temple or trading him into someone's space, and possibly try to move Jax and possibly Kira at the deadline for future assets.

I think this makes it highly unlikely for us to get him. Our best chance was via a sign and trade.

He'd have to really want to come here (read: take the tax payer MLE), and we'd have to basically trade Jax into someone's space for a future asset.

My thing is, if he's really that "decent" why are the Magic just letting him walk?

I wouldn’t mind offering Mo a 3/21 with the 3rd year being a player option.

Call up Orlando and see if they would do a S&T and take Jax for Mo.

Buyout Temple and bring him in as an assistant, then sign Liddell.

Top 10:
CJ
Herb
BI
Zion
Val
Trey
Jose
Dyson
Nance
Mo

Reserves:
Kira
Billy
Liddell
Naji
Tae

That seems like a pretty good roster, and we should skirt right under the tax.

Because the Magic have big men coming out of their arse right now between Paolo, Jonathan Isaac, etc, and Bomba will cost too much in money and playing time if they don’t see him as their future. (Isaac is likely still injured but that contract of his is a lot of money and can’t easily be dumped)

Them winning the lottery sealed his fate there.

Wow dude is really solid. May even compete for starting role with Jonas. Dude had a 7/8 3-PT game and other solid 3-pt shooting games, very efficient numbers, posting a PER of 17.
