frick you, bro. We had a legit shot at the playoffs. We’ve seen this team really blossom and ending it like this sucks balls.

What makes you think that?

Actually this probably hurts us in that regard. I’d say he’s 90% to come back now.

I don’t see how this changes anything, especially if they have any legit interest in Atkinson.

He hasn’t “failed”. It’s an incomplete. The team was on the upswing and the perception is they had a good chance to make the playoffs.

He may have bought himself a year. If they had played the season out and he failed, he’s probably gone.

If anything they’ll give him next year and a full season before deciding now

You’re not just an arse hole, your moronic take is arse backwards. He’s more likely to be back now with a season cut short as we were playing good basketball.

I thought the season was just suspended until further notice - not cancelled? Possibility it'll start back up in a month.

A final decision isn’t coming anytime soon.

And this is a shitty was way to end the season. .

That would be really stupid of Griff to keep Gentry because the season was cut short.

Yea, 20 games shouldn’t be the deciding factor after 4 out of 5 of his years were shite

I think the league is looking at a month as a minimum hiatus. It would seem that resuming the season (with 20 games left) would be improbable a month from now and downright impossible if the hiatus is more than a month.

I actually think Gentry will be back. Look at last season and this one.

He manned the ship when AD and Klutch completely tried to tank everything. He was the only thing that was steady during that troubled season. And this year, he kept the team competitive throughout while the star player missed half the year. Then when Zion came back, he was easily integrated into the system and the team remained competitive.

No, they didn't make the playoffs. But did you really expect them to?

That being said, I don't want him back

its obvious many posters want gentry gone.

but the team was on a good trajectory, had missed the services of zion for many games, and the easiest part of the schedule was yet to come (although 7 of the next 8 were all playoff teams and the kings).

so maybe gentry pleased mgmt.

hes not the ft coach.
fire the ft coach.

i dont like the turnovers and i think thats on gentry.

i was listening to rick barry on radio couple days ago.
hard and high expectations.
id give him real money and a 2 year deal.

for those too young to recall he was best guy on champions in.nba and aba.
led league in ft and scoring.

he was the only white guy invited to the original (one time ever) mlk jr all star game.

And even during that one year we had some serious lows

The problem with Gentry is his career here has been full of excuses. At some point you need someone who can nut up and get the job done. The nets did it after their franchise was wrecked after the worst trade in nba history. The Celtics did it when their presumed top 2 players were injured. There always going to be injuries and drama, a good coach can figure things out.

I dont care too much about something being "a bad look." Who cares, coaches get fired every year, you're looking out for the young guys by bringing in a new coach. Keeping a proven loser around is more damaging and im sure they know that. That being said, it would be a bad look to fire him after a shortened season where the team is fighting for a playoff spot.

You're thinking is completely backwards. If the season ends up being over, then he will come back next year. If we're able to finish the year out, then im sure he gets let go.
