What a turnaround he has had in the past few weeks. I’ve been impressed by his defense the past two games.

Griff always said that Melli was specifically brought in to work with Zion. It was unfair to gauge his play without Zion on the floor.

On Jan. 9, Nicolo Melli was shooting 29.9% from 3. He's now up to 39.7%. He's gone 35 of 69 from deep in his past 18 games.

Meh. He's objectively playing better with or without Zion. The two year deal was a fantastic decision by Langdon/Griffin. He's looking to be (good) Mirotic 2.0. He played some more good D tonight and had one great play where he knocked the ball into the backcourt and started defending ~60 feet from the basket that got me riled up.

Yeah he was playing well in that Jan stretch even before Zion returned.

They don't win those pistons or grizz games without him

Which is when Favors returned and Melli went from being the only healthy 5 to the stretch 4/5 playing fewer minutes at very high energy

nice article on melli today by will guillory

Since Jan. 1, he owns the NBA’s best shooting percentage on 3-pointers among players with at least 50 attempts (49.3 percent).

Playing Melli at center next to Zion alleviates some of the pressure and his skill set fits perfectly with the ball movement and outside shooting that’s turned into the identity of the offense. When Melli and Williamson share the floor, the Pelicans are outscoring opponents by 11.7 points per 100 possessions, which is fairly impressive considering most of those minutes have come with bench units that don’t include Ingram and Holiday.

The Melli-Williamson lineups are scoring 116.7 points per 100 possessions and the team has picked up an assist on 74.3 percent of its field goals, a staggering number for a group featuring two rookies so prominently.

50.7% from 3 over his last 18 is ridiculous. He’s a legit player
