I would add Jabari Smith Jr from Houston to that list

Honestly the best "middle ground scenario"

Hawks: BI + Liddell

Cavs: Dyson + Nance + 24' 1st via pels + 25' swap via Pels

Pels: Okongwu + Allen + Murray

Sign Malik Monk

We can still trade (5) 1st 25', 26', 27', 28', 30'

Murray/ Jose/
Herb/ CJ/ Hawk
Trey/ Monk/ Ryan
Zion/ Okongwu/
Allen/

Has there been any reporting about Atlanta moving Okongwu? I feel like that's a pipe dream

No, and honestly the Pels should take Capella back in a trade. He’s viewed as a negative asset but would immediately be useful for the Pels. So whatever deal you make is cheaper, and it’s not like Okungwu is the perfect center for the Pels. Use the savings from Capella to get another member of the center committee, or allow Griff to stomach a trade for someone like Trae.

That's been my thought, I've always been under the assumption the Hawks want to move on from Capella to open up minutes for Okungwu. They wouldn't want to move him.

If they draft Sarr, they are going to want to give him as many minutes as possible. So there's no clear path for big minutes for Okongwu. I'm sure Capella is the preferred contract they want to get rid of but in trades, teams aren't going to want Capella outright.

this year because Zion was out.
??? He played majority of the season. Throughout the year you can see against elite healthy teams, we struggled.

And personally I just don’t think Dejounte is that kind of dude you need to make a deep playoff run. Not going to be upset if we do trade for him. Just don’t think we improve a ton.

Is it me or does this seem a little out of nowhere almost like they are trying to raise his trade value?

But, we don't really know what the ceiling of the team was this year because Zion was out.
I hear what you're saying, we didn't actually see it.

But I think we still know. Zion playing most regular season games with this squad, still a play in team.

And even though Zion did not play, I think we can make a safe assumption and say we're a 1st round out. I see kinda literally zero chance, barring injuries to the opponent, we could beat any of OKC/DAL/MIN/DEN in a 7 game series with this season's team if healthy.

If this is true, we need to trade Zion immediately before everyone else figures out that he makes little difference to team success.

The Zion that played in that Lakers game would have absolutely destroyed OKC. He was literally taking down the Lakers by himself

I disagree.

Zion was worthless to start the season. He was a negative on the court on both sides of the ball b/c he was so out of shape.

After Christmas they were 32-19, which is on pace for 51/52 wins. That's with Zion missing 6 games and BI missing 15.

During that time they had the #8 ORtg and #7 DRtg and #5 NetRtg. 51 games is not a small sample size.

The playoffs were a worthless adventure without Zion, and literally nothign was gained by playing in it other than BI can't be a #1 and CJ can't be a #2. But that's what Zion is for.

If the Zion from his last game against the Lakers shows up next year, we can beat anyone. Not saying we would, but we are better than an autmatic 1st round exit. Upgrade the center position and this is a top 4 seed in the West easily with Zion's ascedence to a MVP level player.
Zion's elevation in his game is what makes us a better than first round exit team, not whatever trade we make for BI.

Playoff basketball is a different sport, and I think that Zion will eventually be very effective in that sport. We also know that we got "BI coming off injury," who is a different player than "BI in rhythm."

I absolutely think that we could have been very competitive with every team if BI doesn't get hurt.

We wouldn't be winning the West, though. Everyone agrees that we need to improve the roster. The question is how much of out problems this season were related to the center position, as opposed to the lack of chemistry with our Big 3. And, even when we think about the Big 3 for the season, how much of our problem was the result of Zion coming in out of shape? At the end of the season, Zion was a completely different player from the guy at the start of the year, especially on the defensive end.

I mean, I know what I think about those questions, but I don't think that we really know all the answers for sure.

For who?

Who is the legit #1 who can be the best player on a team that can win a round that we can trade Zion for?

Don't be ridiculous. Trey played great defense the whole series. Surprisingly good defense on SGA. And rebounded really well. Yeah he had a dropoff in his 3's going in, but nothing like the dropoff CJ had.

Zion is 5 for 5 in not being in shape for an entire season, I don't know why we'd assume he'll do that next season.

Sure, but that's 1 game. The game right before that one was pretty darn important, how did he play in that one? You can't assume you're getting 40ppg Zion because that is so incredibly rare, he's done that, what....3 times in his entire career?

I didn't put any thought into it, just liked at the advanced stats and TS%, and Trey was right there with CJ lol.

b/c we hvae to. He is the centerpiece to winning a championship. You have to build around that fact, and if you fail, you fail, but right now that's the path we are on.

We dont' need 40ppg Zion. We simply need 25ppg 5+ apg Zion that is capable of closing games out for us.
Luka will go into games where he has 20 points entering the 4th quarter, and end up with 33. Kyrie will have 12 points and end up with 25.
When you score is very important, and was our biggest problem this year with BI and Zion.
