doing a sign and trade B.I. for Nic Claxton and include another team to get a PG that can compete for the starting job
Horrible trade, unless Nets are getting us Trae with a combination of their picks and ours why would we do this?
Clearly some of yall didn't fully comprehend what I said. Trade B.I. for Nic Claxton AND a starting caliber PG , i.e., someone like Dejounte Murray (HARD pass on Trae--too small for my liking). Sneaky throw in would be Saadiq Bey (coming off an injury but I feel he'll bounce back). Send CJ and picks to Nets, send B.I. to Atlanta. Move up on draft day to select Ka'lel Ware (dude is what u want in a modern 5)
PG: Dejounte Murray/ Jose Alvarado
SG: Herb Jones/ Jordan Hawkins
SF: Trey Murphy/ Dyson Daniels?
PF: Zion/ FA signing or Saadiq Bey
C: Nic Claxton/ Rookie big (2-3year starter) Ka'lel Ware would be a homerun
Not a bad lineup. Definitely a defensive-minded team. I feel like Herb has more to his offensive game to grow and Trey is finally thrust into a starter role, with Jordan being our microwave 6th man. I like that roster. Hierarchy is established. If Dejounte from late in the season is what we get on a regular, this iteration of the Pels, health permitting, should get out the 1st round.

Lavine is a lot better than CJ bro lol
CJ was easily the worst playoff rotation player in the entire nba this season.

Not a fan of trading for Murray. I don’t think he makes us much better. Once again a second round at best team.

Claxton is a free agent and the Nets wants to sign him to a long term deal.

IMO, Murray or Garland don't raise the ceiling very much. But, we don't really know what the ceiling of the team was this year because Zion was out.
Trae is a real ceiling raiser.

This is easily the dumbest post in the entire Pels Talk in months.

Then it should be real easy to name someone else who performed worse.
3P% went from 43% to 24% and it’s not like he wasn’t shooting them.
TOs went from 1.7 to 4.0
He shot 2 free throws in 4 games.
He couldn’t stop anyone who decided to take him one on one and was routinely making bad decisions off the ball on defense as well.
I love CJ, I really do, but he was straight arse this playoffs.

You could have just said he was arse and not that he was "easily the worst playoff rotation player in the entire nba this season," which isn't a true statement.

Maybe D'Lo? But they were both arse

I don't necessarily disagree. But Murray fits the system and would only cost 25mil.
So his impact + contract does make it a very good fit. Yes Murray doesn't make us a championship caliber team but he helps put the pieces together without a risky cost.

Hawks: Nance + BI
Cavs: Okongwu + (1-2) 1st via Pels
Pels: Murray + Allen
This is the simplest and most effective trade to "get better/ find an identity" without breaking the bank, maintaining pick assets, and increasing player assets.
Murray/ Jose
Herb/ CJ/ Hawk
Trey/ Dyson/ Ryan
Zion/
Allen
If needed package CJ/ Dyson/ Jose/ 3-4 picks at the deadline for the next step.

After accepting Cleveland would hang up the phone laughing at you being stupid enough to offer that much for Allen
They would do a straight swap for Okongwu in a heartbeat

Possibly. There's also a chance they will want a 1st because they technically can keep him and have control.. Or the market will force the 1st.
Either way you are looking at (1) of Okongwu/ Dyson + (1) 1st for a value comparison.
Posted on 5/29/24 at 8:25 am to Dantheman504
Okongwu has more value than Dyson currently IMO
Okongwu has shown he can be a starter in the league and he is on a very team friendly extension, Dyson has not shown that.
Personally I would rather keep Okongwu and use that pick to go get Mark Williams or Nick Richards

Well I didn't say he was the "worst playoff rotation player in the entire nba this season", although i don't particularly disagree.
I also don't take everythign people say as literal as possible. Was he the worst? maybe, maybe not, but we know he was well below average and you get the exaggerated point the OP that said that meant.

A sneaky trade that I don't hate would be:
Rockets: BI + 24' 1st via Pels
Pels: Jalen Green + Tari Eason + Jack Lindale + #3
Green/ Jose
Herb/ CJ/ Hawk
Trey/ Dyson/ Ryan
Zion/ Eason/
/ Lindale/ Nance
Draft Topic/ Sheppard with the pick.
I'd even add another 1st or Jose to make that work. You can then still take Nance/ Dyson and or picks to get Allen.
Green/ Topic (Sheppard)/ Jose (or vet min)
Herb/ CJ/ Hawk
Trey/ Dyson/ Ryan
Zion/ Eason/ Nance
Allen/ Lindale/ rookie

Wait, you think the Cavs would trade JA for Okongwu straight up?

The Hawks are trying to cut salary, this doesn't do that for them.

I don’t mean this in a mean way, but I don’t think I have agreed to one post you have ever made. It’s an impressive streak.
