There is a ZERO percent chance we trade Herb Jones and we would be the dumbest franchise in the league trading a young 1st team all defense player on a sweetheart team deal. Herb is as safe as Zion to this team.

We’re still getting the best end of that deal.

ETA: if I told you that you could trade BI, CJ, and Dyson for Trae and Allen you wouldn’t do it?

No because we lose too much scoring and depth…

We can make that deal without including CJ by including picks.

If we are moving CJ it would be in a separate deal, where we can bring back more help.

Depth? You’re losing one player net. In the playoffs top end talent matter more than depth, and you’re increasing your top end talent in that deal.

CJ is probably a neutral asset on his current deal.

If we trade for Trae, CJ doesn’t really have a big role on the team anymore because you can’t play him with Trae.

If you trade for Trae, CJ may be your only hope to hold Trae and Zion accountable for their bullshite. If not, that shite could go south quickly

I just find it hard to believe Paul George would give up LA to go live in Philly. I just believe this is posturing by PG to get a better deal with LA.

The question would be what sort of deal would we be willing to take from Philly, or what players could we get in the deal by adding other teams? Would something like this work and be approved by everyone?

Philly: Ingram

Hawks: Nance, #16, #21

Pels: Murray, Capella, Reed, 26,29,31 1sts from Philly, a couple 2nds from Hawks

Capella would give a starting level center with a big enough salary that we could flip for a better fit, and adding those picks gives us i think 8 trade able future 1sts

Hawks aren't giving up Murray and Capella/ Okongwu for just 2 mid rd picks.

Trade Value ish:

Trae = BI + (1) 1st
Trae= BI + Dyson
Trae + Okong= BI + (2) 1st (maybe 1 1st)

Murray + (1) 1st = BI
Murray + Okongwu= BI (maybe 1 1st)

Allen + (1-2) 1st = BI

Trae + Allen= BI + Dyson + (2) 1st (maybe 3rd)

Murray + Allen = BI + (1) 1st + (Dyson or 2nd 1st)

This is assume Nance/ Okongwu are used to fill space in trades where they aren't named. This is about where the assets are valued or should be. Tell me if y'all think this is close.

Pretty close imo, although you have to do something with CJ if you acquire Trae.

Agree with that. If you keep CJ with Trae, they can’t spend any time on court together and you likely have to move CJ to the bench.

Supposedly Clark released a recent article stating they may prefer Murray over Trae- due to Murrays defensive versatility and lower salary number.

I don’t see Capella as having any value whatsoever, he’s in the deal because we agree to take him back when Atlanta takes Nance, as Capella’s 22 million salary number allows us to go after bigger fish than Nance at 12 million, otherwise we keep Nance and only send one pick with one future protected pick for Murray. Okongwu has way more value than Capella, and I would agree that Atlanta would not trade Murray and Okongwu for the deal I listed.

I understand the concerns here but I don't think its the end of the world. If you can make a trade to acquire Trae + Allen then you have to keep CJ for now.

At that point you then take CJ + Hawk + Dyson (if on team) + picks for the next step.

But CJ and Trae don't have to play every minute together and they can easily still be + overall if their offense power > defensive woes. At that point its really about coaching and scheming.

We need a defensive center regardless and you'd have complimentary players in Jose/ Herb/ Dyson.

As long as Trey and Zion continue improving on defense I think we would be in pretty good shape. Not best case scenario but I really don't think it would end up being an overall -

What you mean? You give him minutes playing off the bench also. You need more than one guard coming off your bench. The lineup would look something like
Trae/CJ/Jose
Herb/Hawk
Trey/Dyson
Zion/Naji/EJ
FA/FA/Karlo

This scenario one of Hawk, Dyson, Jose move to reserve roles with Naji, EJ, and Karlo. You have to play your backup big significant minutes unless your thinking Zion, Naji or TM3 will be able to handle post minutes.

Sixers have nothing to offer, not sure why they are in the conversation.
