Is to own it.
Lots of hate on Pelicans last night both locally and nationally, but just like the Nword and Gay/Queer, you can make a bad label good if you embrace it hard enough. Once you people have had your reaction, hop on the bandwagon.

I'm really going to miss Hornets. I grew up a fan of the Charlotte Hornets and was stoked when they moved here.
Pelicans is fine, it's just not as good as hornets IMO
