Switching from direct tv, need advice
I figured I would post this here because y’all Would have better advice than the rant. Can I catch most sports events on sling or Hulu? I’m worried about catching the Pels mostly. I’m switching from direct tv to cut down on the cost but wondering if sling or Hulu is better. Is NBA tv a better option?

TIA

I believe Sling, who is owned by Dish, lost the Fox Sports regional channels so no Pelicans games. Someone let us know if that’s changed.

I think all of the other major services have FoxSports. However, they all vary some in pricing, channels, especially local OTAs. You’ll just need to check which has the best mix for you from

PlayStation Vue
Hulu Live
YouTube TV
DirecTV Now

Can confirm that Psvue has the Pels games (and essentially all sports games you would want to watch).

re: Switching from direct tv, need advice
Probably another stupid question, but for ps vue I see nba tv comes in the core package, can I hear Joel and AD for the game through nba tv or would I have to get the sports package for Fox New Orleans?

You don’t need the sports package for fox sports Nola in market. If you get sports package you get all the other regional networks. NBC sports Bay Area etc etc. you also get redzone.

I’m really considering YouTube TV. How would you compare it to the others?

Haven't used any other streaming services but I generally like YTV. No live abc in nola though so you have to catch games on the espn app if they are on ABC. Other than that it's awesome.

On the Movie board people that have YTTV, PSVue and HuluLive all seem pretty happy. Sling and DirecTV Now are the ones that people make posts complaining about something on occasion.

I live in Lafayette. Dunno if that changes what it catches. As long as I can watch every Saints/Pels game I’m set.

I have Hulu so will only get the nationally televised games but last year I started using nbastreams on reddit and caught every game for free! Just used nordvpn in case the streaming site was flagged by my internet provider.

another vote for PSVue. Watched red zone channel all day yesterday, have pellies games, NBA/NFL Tv networks.

Can't miss a game. Can't complain about the $55/mo price tag either. Don't miss my $120 a month to watch TV at all. And setting it up eas easy as hell. Get a couple Roku sticks to scatter around the house and you're good to go. Recommend 100 mbs down at a minimum however. At 150 mbs down, we can have 5 streams in my house going with no stutter. Picture quality is great too.

I switched for the Pels but stayed for the quality and service.

I think that is one thing that is overlooked with PS Vue, it is insanely easy to set up and get started watching TV. You don't need a playstation, I use amazon 4k fire sticks but Roku and Apple TV are great for it as well. No holes drilled, no weird technicians in your house for hours. Pretty great.

I have a question for you guys if you dont mind, do you get charged all the taxes and fees on PSvue, Hulu, etc like the standard tv companies?

paying 37 in boxes, 30.00 plus in taxes and fees.

If i ever cut, this is where i think i will save since internet would be around 75 and tv service around 60.00.

The price is all inclusive. There are no taxes or hidden fees. Some services like Hulu Live and DirecTV Now do charge extra for certain features like more streams or DVR functionality.

re: Switching from direct tv, need advice
On PS Vue just the state rate with no taxes, fees, etc. I think I pay 64.99 for elite package
