Hayes and 8 for 22 and Bane
One can dream

I think it will either be Daniels at 8 or trade back with OKC and take sochan

If we are somewhat confident that Sochan will be there at 12, we would be silly to pass up the opportunity to pick up an asset by moving back only 4 spots.

I don’t think a “win now compensation” is doable with a 4 spot move back. Chances are it would be #8, Graham, Hayes?, Kira? for an actual starting level player. Brogdon/ Sexton types.
Lol at anyone thinking we would move back for a salary dump. This is an obvious take and our options are pick at #8 or add a player to help us compete immediately. The tax is irrelevant if we are competing for championships.

if the opportunity to move hayes or graham is there you have to at least consider it. If there’s a better offer then obviously they’ll take it.
going to be interesting

I can see them aiming higher like that, I was thinking it meant we wanted something like Micic/Dort more than more future 1sts. Or maybe 13 and a player from Charlotte rather than 15.
It feels like 16 and Huerter is falling back too far to get any of the guys we've been talking about the last few months.

You’d think one of Mathurin or even Murray might fall to us. We need to stay put.

Yea it worked out perfectly last time we only moved down 4 spots and picked up another asset…..

If Daniels and mathurin are both gone and Sharpe is staring us in the face, I’d probably be ok with this. But I think I’d still probably just take the gamble on him.

I think #8, #41, #52 and Graham for Dort, #12, and #31 is on the lower end of what we want to do. I’d rather throw in a future 1st/ swap for a higher coveted player. (no offense to Dort and I think he’d be great for our team).

Why is everyone so quick to move Hayes?
He averaged 61/35/76 and he's only just turned 22. He's progressively gotten better and he's still freakishly athletic.
Why sell when his value is so low?

Banking on him not taking a step this coming season where he’s valuable enough to resign at his asking price. I would think the likelihood of him being moved prior to the trade deadline is incredibly high.
More importantly, I think his value is low, if he played for someone else what would you be willing to give up for him?

Because he has one year left on his deal and we aren’t going to sign him. Not to mention he’s proven not to be able to handle the center position, and beyond his numbers, still finds a way to make enough negative plays to hurt the team.

If you don’t make future moves because you’ve made mistakes in the past you shouldn’t have the job of managing a basketball roster.

I agree with you. The point he’s making is that we tried to go 2 for 1 knowing they wouldn’t contribute immediately. It’s not worth it for this draft. If we have someone 1-8 that we trust will have a large impact now then we do it. Or trade the pick for a proven player that will have a large impact now.

There was no reason to move down that draft. And really depending on who is there when we pick this year, absolutely no reason to drop 4 spots this draft. I was right the last time I said it was a mistake and we should have taken Garland.
