Not sure why some think we are going to get both Lowry and Brogdon
Because of the Lonzo for Brogdon trade rumors and the surprisingly receptive Indy fan base that thinks it's a good idea and better fit. With the Memphis deal the Pels can do a S&T for Lowry and keep Lonzo or S&T Lonzo for someone like Brogdon. Griff may not be able to pull in both, but I expect his goal is to get 2 starting guards out of these moves. Whether that's Lowry + Brogdon or Dinwiddie + Lonzo or some other combination of names we've thrown out the last 2 days.

Yea I don't see it at all either. I think they are incredibly high on NAW and want to free up minutes for him to play a bigger role this year. I think they are likely going for a Lowry/McDermott type of addition and maybe a cheap vet SG for insurance.
I'll be shocked if they add 2 high level starting caliber guards to the roster.

I'm high on NAW too, but if you turn down bringing in a legit starter because you think NAW is ready, then the team is less deep. Because you aren't going to bring in a starting caliber bench guard with the MLE or whatever other mechanisms we have.
What's better?
Lowry/Kira
Brogdon/NAW
Lowry/Kira
NAW/Forbes
I'd be more inclined to go with NAW as the starter if you can't flip Lonzo for a good starter like Brogdon or Ingles/Bogdonavic. Because Lonzo starting ahead of NAW would feel like the better player is on the bench to me, but if a good S&T isn't there and his price isn't crazy you probably have to keep Lonzo. Hopefully they find a good S&T and the rest will work itself out.

There is a huge difference in salary between Brogdon and Forbes. If he can pull it off, more power to him. I just do not see it as realistic.

It's not about being a playoff team. It's all about being a contender. Ball gives the Pels a better chance two or three seasons from now. As much as Chris Paul helped the Suns the Lakers would have eliminated them with a healthy Davis
Ball played out of position last season and he averaged roughly one point and one assist less than KL.
How many Lowery fans even watched him play last season?

This is what worries me with Griff in general.
He is very much a prisoner of the moment person. And it almost always gets him in trouble.
He did it in Cleveland and he did it last year with chasing the Bucks model of team/defense without either recognizing why it worked and after the Bucks themselves had realized they needed to change.
Now he’s trying to emulate the Suns, which, as impressive as what they did is, was due to winning a war of attrition. As you say, that team was a healthier AD away from being one and done. And I strongly suspect Green would not be our head coach and we wouldn’t be trying to clear the books to try and copy a model that really only found the success it did because of the unique situation the league was in last year.

Just because this gets to how fake news spreads.
Links says Geat are the front runners sourcing another person.
Go to other person and it turns out they are a beat writer. Which, fine, some do have connections.
Find the sourced tweet and what does it say?
quote:
The Miami Heat currently are viewed as the front-runner to sign veteran point guard Kyle Lowry in free agency, a league source tells @MavericksSI.
The Dallas Mavericks and New Orleans Pelicans remain serious suitors for Lowry’s services.
The re-reported tweet frames what is in reality speculation, as fact.
But there is even more, because, where does that speculation come from? Well Grant Afseth, the person who is the source for the misconstrued statement, was also just quoting speculation. You follow his source back and it is simply Marc Stein and what he said days ago, which is that he speculates the Heat might have an advantage because Lowry and Butler are friends.

That's what we like to call a RUMOR

It’s not a rumor.
It’s literally repackaging and taking out of context something said days ago( Marc Stein’s blind speculation) and framing it factually and more widely supported when the supporting evidence used to make that statement is none of those things.

How about just take two seconds before literally posting fud rumors that take what is in the OP out of context and gives it a fake news spin?
It’s actually a perfect example of how this nonsense happens.
What you posted is literally sourced back to the paragraph in the Op.
Now would you call what Marc Stein speculated in the OP as proof the Heat are front runners?
