Wrong. Every team is in play.
You don't know what each team is offering, and you don't know what Griffin's short or long term plans are.
So chill.
Harrell will be 25 at the start of next season. Let’s not put him to pasture just yet.
And if you don’t see the benefit of getting Gallo as the asset that he is, then you probably shouldn’t be in these type of discussions. There are tons of teams that would love to get their hands on him.
I’ve been starting to think SGA is the best young player out of the guys available to us. I’m not sure if it puts the Clippers offer on top for me, but it does put them in the discussion.

I don't know how Harrell lines up next to Zion. Kind of like with Randle. They are all sort of similar players and just may not be the best fit with each other.
The long time rumor with Gallinari is he is going to be flipped to the Raptors in a S&T for Leonard. It makes tremendous sense for everybody involved. Leonard likes the Raptors and doesn't want to leave them empty handed. He doesn't lose any money. Gallinari goes to a better situatuon and is a great fit with the talent they have. The Raptors stay competitive for another season. Win/win..

I'm not as high on the Clippers package either now that we are getting Zion. While a Jrue/SGA defensive backcourt would be sick, I'm really nervous about what SGA looks like offensively next to Jrue and Zion.
Harrell is a FA after next season who will probably command a bigger contract than his role is worth.
And Danilo is also a FA after next season and has an awful injury history. He's played more than 70 games twice in his 11 year career. I'm not going to want to pay a guy at his level missing 20-30 games a year.

I’m definitely not high on the Clippers assets with Zion on board. I don’t like Zion and Harrell together as they play the same position and there will be spacing issues.
I don’t like Gallinari due to his age. I like Shamet and SGA but I don’t think it’s an ideal package especially when those guy still have so much to prove. We’re going to need to be thoughtful in how we build around Zion and Holiday as spacing could be an issue.
I would probably loved this package if we didn’t have Zion.

Yeah, I really don’t want to bank on an unprotected pick being a centerpiece of a trade again (hi Minnesota/Austin Rivers).
None of those players excite me anywhere near the level of Tatum/Brown/Barrett/the guy this front office values at #4.

SGA is better than Tatum or Brown or Mitchell Robinson or Knox or any other player listed in these talks.

I still really like Tatum. I do fear he becomes an Andrew Wiggins type guy. Mediocre handle, non existent playmaking, but can score. I feel though when you have a wing as talented as Tatum seems to be, you have to take that risk.

Who there nellie.
People are shitting on Tatum but Tatum's first two years PER are both better than SGA's one year. Tatum scored more points a game and has a better 3p% on top of it.
Tatum is damn good, people are bashing him for his playoffs but its getting to be a bit absurd.

quote:Purely your opinion (biased based on being a Celtics fan). It is ridiculous to say that it is that narrowed down at this point. I do not believe the LAL, LAC, Denver, and probably 4-5 other teams are not a potential factor.
95% Boston, 4% Knicks, 1% some dark horse like Philly. Griffin will do his best to puff up AD's trade market to get Boston to go higher, but wouldn't bet on LA, even if they flip Lonzo for a high pick somehow.

I have similar fears. I do trust that Tatum is more self aware and will be more understanding of his role and development than Wiggins is, but I would like to see more playmaking and better shot selection for him to reach the ceiling most people consider for him.

Jayson Tatum side bar:
In a bit of a less than expected year on a team surrounded with a little bit of distraction and turmoil, Jayson finished up with 29 games out of 79 that he scored 19 pts or more. about 37% clip. Not sure what this stat means though.

At this point a potential LAL package is being overlooked and is frankly underrated. You could potentially get 2 top 10 picks with the Lakers assets. Ball should be able to net the #6 or #7 based on the interested shown by Phoenix and Chicago.
You can in turn draft 2 additional lottery guys like a Garland and Culver or see if you can flip those 2 top 10 picks for Bradley Beal.
You can also flip Kuzma( ideally for a starting caliber big man)
And you still get to keep the best player in the package in Ingram.
If the Lakers can flip those young players into assets we like, I’m sure a lot of people would feel differently about their potential package.

so brandon ingram (who needs to be paid) is the best piece of that package? you can't run fast enough.

If there isn’t someone worth drafting within the top 10, the level of the pick doesn’t do you much good.
It also depends on whether we are better off taking in a bunch of young talent this season between our first, seconds, and any received picks or if we want to defer to a future year to either take those picks or trade them.
Having, say, Memphis’ future pick or Miami’s unprotected 2021 pick could get us something we want in trade if we don’t want to wait on it and possibly end up with Austin Rivers 2.0.
We don’t really have that option in a current year draft when people know where the picks fall and roughly the quality of players expected to be available.

And who potentially has a career ending blood clot issue on top of that.
Where can I sign up?

Comparing the Lakers offer to Boston and especially the Knicks comes down to how you tier this draft, IMO. If you, like most people, think this is a three player draft, then you create separation between the Knicks and Lakers. I'm in the minority and believe that there won't be much separation between Barrett and Garland when draft far arrives. I'm not really high on Barrett and I think Garland closes the gap.
Other than that, the Lakers have good pieces, but are closer to pay day and I mostly would prefer to spin them off to a third team to get Beal or a pick/young guy for Lonzo, etc.
Why would Washington send Beal out for a number of these players or picks?
They are inherently fricked this year between Wall’s injury and having to pay Howard and Mahinmi. I don’t see adding two or three mid-lottery picks doing a tremendous amount to help them.
I want Beal but they need to pick a GM before they get out of this situation and we don’t know how they plan on doing it.

Their situation isn't as dire now since they've gotten out from Otto's contract, but I could see them wanting to reset the timeline and start reloading their roster. The Wall/Beal duo has never come close to making a title run. Now Wall is coming off of injury and is doubling his salary making it that much more difficult to build a competent roster. Beal is a heck of a young player on a good contract that you don't let go in most situations, and they still might not, but I don't think it's illogical to think there's a chance that they would.
