Had to be BI from the elbow or Zion in the post. Anything else is a piss poor coaching decision

I don’t think that was a designed play. He was just wide open in the corner and Bi threw it to him

Was right play. Too bad it wasn’t Naji sitting in the corner instead though. He isn’t knockdown or anything, but he was 2-5 from 3 and just had a better rhythm overall.

On the bright side, Lonzo has missed enough of these clutch 3’s to both get us more ping pong balls and justify not paying him a ridiculous sum of money in free agency. Also, maybe Zion will be more understanding when we let his friend go.

A wide open corner 3 for a 38% 3 point shooter on 8 threes per game? I think most people would take that scenario.

This is what people who don't watch the games say. Lonzo is nowhere near a 38% shooter from deep in the 4th quarter. He's the definition of "unclutch."

Get the frick out of here. Hendo is in here every day talking Pels and he's in almost every game thread. I God damn guarantee he watches more Pels games than you do.

Lonzo is a borderline elite shooter on catch-and-shoot threes this year. He had a bad night trying to shake off the rust, but Zion was bad tonight, too. The refs were worse. Shitting on Lonzo for taking a wide open corner 3 is stupid. He missed a shot. Curry misses shots. BI missed shots tonight.

I like Lonzo. I really do.

I still don’t know if I’m cool with giving him $20M

BI is a better shooter than Lonzo and way better player and he receives less praise than Zo, round here.

Meanwhile the morons on this board hate BI.

You all jumping on medtiger but the stats don’t lie. Everyone wants to pile on BI for his bad clutch play, and to an extent deservedly so for the usage it comes with, but Lonzo ain’t a great clutch scorer/shooter.

On the season, in clutch situations(defined as a five point differential in 5 minutes or less) he is 28% from the field, 33% from three, 57% from the ft line.

Where he excels in the clutch is as a passer. 15 clutch assists this season and only three turnovers.

Lonzo is an awful 3 point shooter in the 4th quarter going by his stats. It's literally his worst quarter this season.

He has some work to do defensively but he’s the kind of player the Pels have to keep around solely because of last night. There are going to be games where Zion is struggling and you have to have a guy like Ingram that can go off like he can.

BI was part of the problem last night tbh. He was 3-12 or 3-13 in the 2nd half. I lost count. BI always has a solid to great first half. He’s a completely different player in the 2nd half. Team loss and BI played the best on the team, but we can’t excuse him either. He was part of the offense that scored 16 in the 4th and 2 in the last 6 minutes against one of the worst defensive teams in the league.

57% is right at his ft avg.

yet another reason to move on.

the ft shooting is weird.
he was ok in college.
45% rookie year.

Lonzo shoots like 80% from the line now. Not that it matters much, because he only gets there 1 time every 3 games anyway lol.

Amazing how people are willing to guarantee things they can't possibly know anything about. It's not possible to watch more Pels games than I do unless they play untelevised games I'm not aware of.

I don't disagree that the stats say this. But my eyes tell me something different. Pay specific attention to Lonzo in the 4th quarter going forward. As the stats posted above state, he does most of his damage in the first 3 quarters. He lacks a killer instinct. If the Pelicans pay him $20+M a year and he keeps up this pace, they're going to be mediocre for his tenure. I hope he can improve, but I don't want them to risk Zion's future on counting on Lonzo to become something he currently isn't.

He’s a finesse player that is best when he can attack the rim, being thrown a teams best perimeter defender, double teams, and having the lane clogged all game because of a lack of spacing.

I’ve said it before, it turns out we were looking at the wrong person this whole time with our lack of spacing, Zion is a freak of nature, so while it would help him too, he can manage, but the lack of space really hurts BI.

Teams can play him physical, keep him away from the hoop, and wear him down because teams are basically loading up their best players on BI and Zion and daring anyone else to beat them.
