I think we are seeing the impact Solo had on the Pels defense (particularly transition defense in the 2nd half). Most fans never appreciated his conditioning and his contribution on defense. McMillian attributed some of Solo's shooting inconsistency last year to him not following through on his shot because he was turning to get back on defense. This also contributed to his low rebound numbers. As soon as our shots would go up, Solo was sprinting back to get in position to slow up the other team until everyone else recovered. He regularly slowed the transition and disrupted 2 on 1's & 3 on 1's.

It is a tiresome role that Moore, Miller, & DC are not filling throughout the game right now particularly in the second half. Tony Allen was brought in as a cooler to shut down hotter wing players as a Solo proxy, but he is too old and offensively deficient to replace what Solo contributed. Hopefully Erman figures out how to improve this with who we have, but this is a different team defnesively with Solo.

I haven't seen Allen's legendary defense yet. So far he's been a foul machine averaging an Ajincaesque 6.9 fouls per 36 compared to 3.3 last year and 3.8 for his career. It seems odd that he'd be done after playing the most minutes on the Grizz last year, but he's looking more like Kendrick Perkins than Jameer Nelson.

I also wonder how much Jrue being the best perimeter defender is messing with his game. I don't think the most adamant Jrue hater ever thought he was this bad. Could the return of Solo + a healthy Rondo and Nelson make Jrue the "best Jrue we've seen" that Gentry was promising all offseason?

It is not one mans job to stop the other teams transition offense. It's a team effort that requires hustle from everyone and more importantly, communication and competent basketball iq from everyone.
Yea one guy can make a big impact by being the main communicator, but it's really not that difficult to do, and guys in the NBA should be capable of talking to each other and knowing what to do.

Last night Jrue and Moore hustled back on defense but neither communciated and left someone wide open for a 3, while both of them, half arse guarded the guy with the ball. Gentry calls timeout and no one said anything to them during the timeout, nor did they talk to each other about it, at least in the first 10 seconds they showed the huddle on tv. I'm going to assume someone said somethign to them during tha timeout about that play, b/c of they didn't, then that's a problem, and is likely why we have been such a terrible, terrible, terrible transition defensive team.
