Should the pelicans have drafted Morant?

Legitimate question. I know there is such a small sample size but does anybody worry with Zion being a bigger guy that injuries may be an issue? I know in the back of my mind It’s a worry. Morant is a monster and smaller guys generally tend to last a lot longer. Thoughts?

Morant has had more injuries since being drafted than Zion..
He also needed knee surgery sooner than Zion..
Simple answer, NO

The knee surgery doesn't really mean anything. If he constantly stays banged up that could be an issue for Ja. The problem with Zion is just the lack of actual information. We were told it was a 6-8 week timeline and last night our latest update says he is ok to fly now? As for now it is hard to say who we should of taken. Zion probably has more potential but it depends on how he develops. The thing is with the NBA today, you have to be able to facilitate and create off the dribble for others and yourself to be dominant. Right now Ja is ahead of Zion. Will Zion become that player? Hopefully

Zion has FAR greater potential than Morant. He can create for others, and his presence alone is enough to open everything up for everyone else.
Zion has the handles and vision already to be the kind of facilitator Blake Griffin is right now in his career. He will be fine, we are talking about a 19 year old kid that is the future of this franchise. I don't blame the organization one bit for being as cautious as possible bringing him back and not just trying to rush everything for the sake of a few fans that want to bitch

I mean it worked out for the sixers. They were extremely cautious with embiid and Simmons.

This fan base consists of half retards though that expect 82-0 every year and can't realize we are super young and have to have time to grow

Yeah it is really disappointing that we aren't going to go 82-0

I hope he can come in and dribble and be a facilitator but he hasn't played so... wait and see I guess. I like the blake griffin comparison but lets hope that isn't his ceiling.

Morant doesn’t haven’t anywhere near the same ceiling that Zion has.

And the other half are the non casual fans who never wanted Gentry hired in the first place and the possibility of him surviving for year 6 is making them crazy. This fanbase will be completely insufferable until the team starts winning or Gentry decides an office next to Ms. Gayle is better than that hot seat on the bench.

I am fine with losing as long as players are developing and battling together. That isn't happening. Anybody else sit back and watch the games and just shake their heads when our opponents run a beautiful play out of a timeout, or have a set play during the flow of the game and execute it perfectly? It seems to happen a lot against us but never for us lol

If any of you watched the game last night you could see just how out of sync this team is.

Thinking we would be a top 6 seed this year was asinine, but even without Zion this team should be playing near 500 basketball not getting embarrassed on a 10 game losing streak.

Exactly. Even with the injuries this team is the deepest we've had. The team has no identity and no motivation. Sign of bad coaching. When Gentry has to explain the same thing over and over again post game about what went wrong and how to fix it, there is a coaching problem.

We have been missing both of our starting big men. ANY team built around their bigs in the NBA will look like shite after that.
Take away Blake and Drummond from Detroit, Embiid and Simmons from Philly, see how they do

I'm more talking about the people I see on FB and Twitter calling for Griffin to be fired..
There's very few on this board I could say that about

Jah and Kenny were starters last year, and Jaxson has been playing outstanding for a rookie, let’s not act like we are bare of big men. Favors hasn’t even looked good in the games he played, minus the 20 rebound game against the Blazers (I believe).
Also the team is deep at guard depth, if coaching can’t adjust to a small ball lineup then that says a lot about why we are in this spot.

Jah, Kenny, Hayes are nowhere near the quality of players Zion and Favors are. C'mon now..
Fully healthy this team is closer to 20-6 rather than 6-20.. With just 1 of Zion or Favors and we are at or right above 500

Morant is as almost as good a rookie pg as memphis hoped. I think they were expecting more assists.
His shooting is a tad better from 3 than expected.
Hes 19 3 6.4
Betting on zion was a good bet. The ceiling was so high.
19 6.4 and 3 would be comparable.
Plus the interior defense.
Thats the key.
