I wish he could put some more muscle on. He's still too frail.

Is that what we call playing with a high motor at all times on both ends of the court, going after rebounds to start fast breaks which he excels at?
No it’s what I call taking the ball out Steven Adams hand after he’s already going up for the board. There is video evidence of Westbrook stat hunting during his 3x10 run.
It doesn’t make me dislike him, but he’s a great human being. But as a basketball player if I want to win a championship? Give me Murray any day.

He constantly will lose his guy intentionally so he can be under the rim, not give any help defense, just to get rebounds. Not help defense or leaving a non shooter or a rotation... just completely ignores his guy to stay near the rim. If it's not to hoard rebounds, I don't know what other reason it would be.
And there are pieces of it I do defend. Like the rebounds on free throws. There can be strategy to that, like you said, to start a break. But there's a lot of videos out there of him just standing around playing no defense to hoard rebounds.

I don't think it matters how much better Kira gets on offense. He has Jose and Dyson ahead of him and Willie seemed to have zero interest in playing Kira and CJ at the same time.
Kira being part of whatever trade they make seems like the best thing for everybody. If you keep him and don't play him you just have a declining asset.

Small guards like Kira are a dying breed in the NBA. Scoot is on the shorter end but still much bigger, stronger, and more athletic.

Are we really comparing somebody to Westbrook? Westbrook is quite possibly the MOST overrated player in the history of the NBA. His MVP award was a joke. I have to assume folks that speak well of Westbrook just didn't watch the guy play very much...I wouldn't even have him in the top 30 the year he won his MVP. His triple double crap was embarrassing to anybody who understands basketball. What a joke !!

Back to Zion for Scoot
Someone on the Elite Board Spaces used an interesting phrase regarding Zion. He doesn't have a championship mentality, at least not yet.
If Zion can't get/stay in shape when he's injured, is he driven enough to really change and be the player we need him to be? Davis had the same problem, he had the talent and physical ability, just not the right mental make up. When it comes to "mentality issues", in the end we usually end up changing our expectations about a player more than they wake up one day and have that dog in them.
The crazy part is peak Zion does seem to have that dog in him. But injured Zion clearly doesn't, we've seen that repeatedly. I know he's "just 22", but can we really expect that to change? I'm not saying I'm for a Zion for Scoot trade yet, but the events of the last 2 weeks shows me that he's pretty far away from being the player we need him to be.

Me: When did the infatuation start with Scoot?
Source: It goes back a ways but it really ramped up when studying Dyson last year. He talked about Scoot a bit in meetings and told the team that Scoot is the most competitive guy he has ever met
I thought that was interesting

I'm certainly no fan of small guards that can't shoot...and I haven't watched much of Scoot...BUT if I'm the Pels and I think Scoot is the real deal, I'm ready to trade EITHER BI or Zion for the guy. BI because I don't like his game (and it's not changing) & he's gonna be waaay too costly in the near future...and Zion because...well, there's just too many reasons to list.

The league has bent so heavy to guards that it needs some correction. The newly skilled bigs help, but there have been great back to the basket players who simply can’t stay in the league because the league rules have changed so much.
Jahil for example.

People keep saying well his personal life doesn’t matter.
Lol. The frick it doesn’t. It shows a continued decision making path of horrible decisions. Dude is immature and won’t change. Ship his arse out.

I just feel like if Charlotte or Portland are really wanting to trade the pick, we should be able to outbid anyone. Think it just comes down to if Charlotte really wants to trade that pick

Or comes down to how bad Griffin wants Scoot. If this is the guy you want go get him, whether this board agrees or not, don’t try to just get the better end of the deal. Go get your guy.
Posted on 6/13/23 at 8:06 pm to TigerinATL
Wow. Now, I want to avoid Scoot at all costs.
This is an incredible opportunity to get rid of McNamara forever.

I feel this is a weird I hate everything “Westbrook take.” To hate a guy who averaged a triple double a whole season and won the MVP during his prime years is just a strictly hater take. I watched a lot if his mvp year games and yes there were times where Adams let him get boards to get stats but dude he averaged a triple double the whole freaking season. He was a big factor of how good those okc teams were when KD was there. Does he have lapses on defense and take some bad clutch shots during his prime- yes he did. Did that make him one of the most overrated players ever- No. does he suck right now- yes; was he overated in his prime and sucked then too- absolutely not.

A bit of a weirdo for sure...but the odd thing is...I find myself agreeing with him about 90% of the time.
Wait a sec...make that...I find the weirdo ageeing with me about 90% of the time. There...that's better.

I don’t think his takes are horrible. Its his elitist, sexist, I know better attitude. To his credit he did state he will try to be better this time around and just try to give information. Thats pretty big coming from if you have read his stuff in the past.
Posted on 6/13/23 at 8:21 pm to Dinky Mulberry
How can he cost more than the max contract we signed him to like a year or two ago?
Eta: I feel significantly dumber having read some of the takes in this thread

The woman juggling doesn’t bother me. That’s par for the course in the NBA. He was laughing while his dad was trying to do damage control at the kids charity event. He should have access to world class PR, he still lets his parents handle things. I was hoping this event might distance him from his parents and force him to grow up. He seems unfazed and operating the same as usual which makes me worry he’s not going to grow up as soon as we’d like.
