Sam Mitchell on Lonzo

Listening to NBA weekend this morning, they went HARD on Ball.
Sam basically said he wouldn't give him over a minimum deal, and that Lonzo is playing his way out of the league.
Sam and Brian both said they wouldn't pay Ball what he wants, but they also wouldn't pay him what he's worth, because he won't be happy getting paid what he's worth.

I normally don't like when national guys dog our players but I can't even defend Ball at this point.

I'm hoping for improved consistency as the season goes on. I want it to work with lonzo for no other reason than that I just like him.
His shooting has improved and hopefully his decision making and ball security continues to improve, as well. His D is very good and I like his attitude (surprisingly enough I wish he complained a more to the refs because he doesn't get the fair calls in the paint IMO).
His season and contract discussions will certainly be an interesting story line.

His decision making has been absolutely horrible lately which has made me lose faith in him being a solid piece on this team.

We’re gonna wind up getting a bag of chips for Lonzo come trade deadline smh

I saw a tweet that basically showed that per touch Lonzo creates less points than all of his peers who touch the ball around the same as him.
He's a below average basketball player at this point. We'd need to see a marked improvement, and I just don't know why we'd have confidence that this will happen.
He's terrible in P&R again, he's terrible at the rim again, he's terrible with turnovers again.

Lonzo dug his on grave, who plays this bad in a contract year. The writing been on the wall that Lonzo is not part of the future, but his horrible play has sealed the deal. I just hope we trade him so we can stop wasting minutes on him.

At this point, call up LAC and see if they would interested in a Zo for Lou Will swap.

I'm just holding onto hope that he is still a young, developing player under his 3rd head coach in his 4th NBA season. I won't be heart broken if he is not signed back or is traded, I just would like it to work out. I definitely like the decisions the front office has made so far, specifically locking up B.I. and signing Adams, so I'm fully on board with whatever happens moving forward.

On Monday, Zo went 7-11 from the field and 4-6 from 3 with 6 rebounds and 6 assists so that's not bad. That being said, he also had 4 turnovers and 5 fouls including the final possession of regulation being the only thing we all remember. I personally feel like he has improved this season and it just has been a super bad week for the Pels.

He's not a point guard! Big name with lack of skills to play the position in the NBA! Outshone by his younger brother last night!

The best thing to come out of our poor play is exposing Lonzo and a huge silver lining, providing Griffin doesn't lose all of his damn mind and pay him

Considering how much he chucks it, he's bound to have a couple of good games here and there.

Consistency, that's lonzo's issue.
One game he'll put up 12/6/6 and have a good shooting %, a couple of turnovers, solid defense.
The following game, he'll go 6/4/4, poor shooting %, and turnovers.
To me, you cannot have that much flux for a PG. You need to be consistent. If you're not shooting well, you gotta protect the ball at the least.
I can live with Ingram and Zion combining for 6-7 turnovers a game, nature of it. I cannot live with Zo having 4 by himself while having a 1:1 or sub ast:to ratio

He's consistently bad. His numbers and percentages are all in line with his career numbers. That's no coincidence. He'll put up these outlier games to give you false hope.

Not like he's someone you want chucking it even when they're cold, like JJ
LaMelo's jumper isn't HEAPS better, but it's still better. And LaMelo already has a bit of a floater game

It may not be as much as you think, he's only had more than 10 FGAs in 6 of the 9 games of this season.
I'm really not some big time zo bandwagoner, but I am saying it might not be as bad as you think. With that in mind, no one should give him some monster contract. And I don't fear that our current front office will make a poor decision.

This is definitely an accurate take on him so far in his nba career

He averages 12.1 FGs a game. That's good for third most behind Ingram and Zion. He's shooting 39% from the field and 31 percent from deep. If you don't see that as a big issue, you will never see his flaws.
