I don’t particularly like Harden, but those of you saying you would turn him down for just Jrue, Lonzo, and a few picks are ridiculous

For Zion to reach his full potential he needs to be able to go full iso and develop his ball handling skills. It's something that was talked about alot around here as a hindrance in AD's game, and one that would be talked about in Zion's game.

re: Rorhbach speculates Harden to Pels in one of many scenarios
Then in a year after it doesn't work out, you try to trade him and you end up in the situation Houston is in with Westbrook, you have to give up even more to dump his contract.

I get the appeal of Harden, but at 31 years old you don't give up the package thats required to get him, because if it doesn't work out and you have to trade him, then teams will start questioning if the decline is actually the fit, or his age.

You can give up the same package, probably even slightly less, for a 27 year old Beal who won't have those same questions if it doesn't work. Then you trade him again for a good sized deal.

If you would not take a top 5 shooter in the history of the game, and a top10 popular player today you're an idiot Hoss.

Bring him here and rejoice with the most talented lineup in the league

Not even close..

"Ohhh he scores 34 PPG"

Yeah on 22 shots and 12 free throws. Great for regular season play, not playoffs.

They are absolutely insane. That deal would be the easiest no-brainer deal ever made. Griffin wouldn't think about it for half a second before saying yes.

Harden might be the game's best offensive player right now. And if you watched the playoffs, you know that he is indeed capable of playing good defense -- it's just not something that he has historically done every night during the regular season.

But a lot of people noticed that Harden did step up defensively this season. Just look at his on/off numbers! Per Cleaning the Glass, the Rockets gave up a shocking 5.1 points less per 100 possessions when Harden was on the floor this year, as compared to when he was off. This the the first year that his defensive on/off differential has been negative since his OKC days.

As others have said, we'd instantly become one of the league top 5 teams and a real threat to win a title.

OK. Being great in the regular season would be a nice change of pace.

re: Rorhbach speculates Harden to Pels in one of many scenarios
It all depends on the plan with jrue and lonzo.

Are they long term or being re-signed? If the answer is no than you take the risk with trading for Harden.

1. Zion doesn't need the ball to be successful, this year proved it.
2. Ingram can benefit from having a primary facilitator and can stagger minutes even better
3. Harden has adequate spacing and can defer at times (similar to how it was planned with Westbrook and cp3)

Defensively we are gonna be HORRIBLE. but that makes us a playoff caliber team and we can just get lucky and make a wcf. Or more

Lol he’s a better distributor than Jrue and it’s not even really close if you watch them both

So give up the farm and stunt our two franchise player's growth for a 2 seasons of a few extra regular season wins?

Damn, you guys are easy to please.

I was shocked at how many assists he got in D'Antoni's first year. Per 36 Harden averaged 11.1 assists that year. After that it went down to 8.9 and then 7.4. Was it just sharing the back court with CP3/Russ, or did they change style too reducing his assists?

What farm? Jrue is getting traded before next season's deadline anyway, half of the people here act like Lonzo is the worst player in the league, throw in a couple picks and your worst case scenario is we lose in the 2nd round. Which is the best we've ever done.

Yeah it was bringing in cp3. I believe harden lead the league in assists the year before. Then they brought in cp3.

I need this crystal ball you have.

Not even close to it, he's in the top 40% of players in the league IMO. The problem is people expect too much from him. The only issue I have with Ball is he will get overpaid, and I don't want to be the team to do it.

if you can get Harden without losing Zion/Ingram then you absolutely 100% do it

I really dislike Harden....

But if he came to the Pels, then HELL YES!!! He would instantly make us Top 3 contender in the West.

I truly dislike Harden and the way he plays so j wonder if we could help facilitate something like this

Pacers get Harden
Rockets get Ball, Oladipo, Miller, and 2 future 2nds
Pels get Brogdon

Assuming Finch is the HC gets a guy who is perfect for his offense that can make them contenders in the East

Rockets get young guards to keep them competitive. They can still trade Russ to the Knicks for other pieces

Pels get a cost controlled PG who fits perfectly in their system

Yeah if that would be the only cost I’d be tempted to take the chance.

The problem I have though has nothing to do with fit, because I think those criticisms are widely overblown, Harden drawing defenders and being able to show by example his impossible-to-match ability to get off shots, facilitate, and get to the rim and sell contact would be a huge help in anyone’s development. I mean how do you guard our team when we have three people that require double teams?

But my actual problem is what are you actually getting? A two year rental? Because that seems like what it would be. Hard to imagine barring two miracle runs in a row that you could convince Harden to stay. So can you win a championship in those two years and not sell your teams soul? If that’s the price, maybe you could, but it’s still potentially a disaster short sighted move. But I could see Griffin taking the gamble given that sort of risk and all in bet is exactly what he did to get his ring.
