Playing for a stacked Pelicans team that is within striking distance of the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference, it shouldn't surprise anyone that Daniels was an afterthought in his team's rotation early on: a healthy scratch in several contests with a fairly compact role when he did play.

Daniels' positional versatility and ability to play on or off the ball might make it difficult to keep him off the floor moving forward, as he has already established himself as arguably the best defender in this rookie class while shooting 41% for 3, rebounding in bunches and facilitating for others.

He's still developing his hunger for scoring and has room to grow with his frame and ability to handle contact, but he's making significant progress seemingly every time he steps on the court and is still only 19 years old. Daniels has been the NBA's best rookie according to several metrics (Box Plus-Minus, Real Plus-Minus, net rating) and will draw more attention to his play if he continues to perform in a bigger sample.

I would have jumped out my office window if we drafted AJ Griffin. I was highly confident he was a bust. Glad to see he’s doing well to start his career.

And good for Orlando making a difficult number 1 pick decision.

There’s the thread about trading the Lakers pick but I still believe it will be 8-10.

Even if it’s 12th and you look at last years picks:

12. Jalen Williams
13. Jalen Duren
16. AJ Griffin
17. Tari Eason
22. Walker Kessler
23. David Roddy

Still great company and I trust our scouting department.

Ivey has been really impressive in the few games I've seen him play.

Griffin was a highly efficient offensive player in college. That wasn't his issue. I knew his offense would translate well. His issues are still present today. Defense and lateral quickness is still an issue with him that followed him into the league. He also isn't going to be a #1 option to offset his defensive limitations.

Pretty sure Griffin’s biggest questions are if his knees hold up. He missed an awful lot of time for injuries to them between HS and college.

His medicals were one of his issues but it was not the only issue that caused teams to pass on him. His defensive limitations especially with his lateral quickness and movements, actual height, and quickness off the dribble hurt his stock going into the draft.

It also didn't help when people expected him to be more athletic and during the entire season people are waiting for his athleticism to show up but it never really did.

His knees being a ticking timebomb like brandon roy and lonzo are worrisome. he can shoot with the best of them, but what's the point if his career is only 5-7 years

Gonzaga’s Andrew Nembhard is #1 and it’s not even close. He torched the Lakers and put on one the best Rooke performances of all time tonight against the Warriors.
