Just 3 TOs. Good win for the Pels.

It’s amazing how much of a difference he makes. The team assists go down when Jrue has to be the PG

Rondo needs to be the primary ball handler. I hope we stop that stupid point center experiment with Cousins.

He will definitely be a big focus to keep this offseason somehow. Need to keep him and draft his backup.

Everybody on here has told me that Rondo has to resign here and it will be for less than 4 million. So no need to worry about that. He'll be here..

And you keep talking about him like he's some stud PG in his prime. He's averaging 25 MPG on a team that could use him more than that and he just took a game off to give his aging body rest. Nobody is going to throw a ton of money at Rondo. The teams that can use him and would want him will have similar financial limitations as the Pels.
I think it's very possible the Pels have to use the full taxpayer MLE on him rather than bring in someone new with that. But I don't see how he gets much more than that from a team that he'd actually see as a better winning situation.

Jackson is a scoring guard/combo guard more than a point. What this team needs for 48 MPG is a floor general type. Another Ish Smith. I see Jackson and Cooke as replacements for Clark and Allen more than Nelson.

Somewhat disheartening being that he's only 31---would think he could give us 30-35mins a game

I am just not sure of what to make out of Rondo. There is no doubt that offensively he makes this team better, especially Jrue. The offense is more fluid and guys seem to just get easier shot attempts with him out there. But when you dive deeper into the advanced stats, you run into him having a negative +/- (1.6) and Net Rating (-2.9). He also has a defensive rating of 113.7 which ranks as #420 in the league.

It has been no secret for years now that Rondo is a terrible defensive player. He gambles far too often for reach-around steals instead of trying to stay in front of his man. He constantly loses sight of his man off ball and gets beat back door, or causes our defense to scramble because he has left a man open.

I can not figure out if his ability to be the captain of a fluid offense is worth the damage he causes defensively. The fact that a Rondo run offense puts Boogie where he needs to be and has Jrue playing at a high level has me leaning to it being worth it.

What I make of that is a small sample size containing 2 very lopsided arse whoopings vs. Golden State and Denver, and a game where he had a large - in +/- in a win at OKC. I'm not sure what happened in his minutes vs. OKC but I suspect it's the defensive deficiencies you're talking about against a team with 2 All Star perimeter players.

I am really curious what a Jruebio back court would have looked like. Rubio is not nearly the leader/mentor that Rondo is, but his defense with Jrue would be awesome. He does not seem to be fitting in with Utah's play and his inability to shoot from the perimeter should depress his value. So maybe we can find out in a couple of years.

The Rondo effect has me thinking about going after Rubio as the long term PG solution. Let Rondo be the starter this year and next, then ease him into the back up role. If you manage to survive that long with Asik's contract, you can finally take advantage of it's structure and do a S&T of Rubio with it.
