They got back in the game because he started playing defense like it was NBA2k going hard for the steal nonstop for about 5 minutes straight.

Yeah also props to him by paying his brother to choke on a FT, but I’m not mad.

Seems like everyone was able to switch and stay in front of their man. Good defense from the end of regulation through OT

It’s s huge win and impressive effort. But if they had upped the intensity 25% in the 3rd, they don’t have to crank it to overdrive for 2 overtimes.

Wish we could see that defense more often. They were suffocating the Bulls. Was awesome to watch.

This is what I was saying. If you watched the box score you will not appreciate that Jrue’s defensive effort turned the energy of this team around.

He really was the catalyst. He was running around like a cat chasing a laser and I think that’s when the run began. Unfortunately it was an intensity that we don’t see with AD. Jrue here’s $26 mil you’re earning it

Reminded me of the defense he played on Westbrook a few years back in that game where AD won on the 30 foot last second jumper. He's definitely got that level of defense in him but i just haven't seen it much this season. Hopefully he's picking it up. This play below in double OT was sick:

LINK

fought over the screen (in double OT), stuck with his man, and played a game of tap him on the right shoulder and steal it from the left side. just brilliant.

This team doesn't have three depth to play defense like that for 48 mins. Our key guys play too many minutes.

He's having a career year, and that's with him shooting 33% from 3. His shooting percentages are way up because he's finishing at the rim, and he's our only elite defender on the perimeter.

He's worth about 75-80% of his contract, which is more than what a lot of us thought.

which, to be fair, about 95% of modern day NBA players are worth

given smaller market teams typically do have to overpay slightly to keep larger name players and get FAs, that's not a bad worth

Kumar put together video highlights of Jrue's defense at the end of the game. This also has a big chunk of the comeback for those that didn't see it or want to watch it again. LINK

his play is fine
you just can't pay 26MM for that and be able to build a team when that or similar is available for less if you draft/scout/develop well. water under the bridge now but this team wears opportunity cost around it's neck like a millstone
