I think Finch has a strong shot to get it. He’d be way more malleable to the front offices vision, whatever that may be, than some other candidates.

That’s not to say I think he’d be a puppet, nor do I think that would be successful, but it’s something to think about. The guy is well regarded and started interviewing for head coaching spots last offseason.

I would add Will Weaver to this list.

Was an assistant coach in Philly and with the Nets (under Langdon). Langdon made him the GLeague team HC and he won GLeague coach of the year.

He was made the HC of the Sydney Kings...where the Pelicans sent Didi Louzada to play. Kings did very very well before the shutdown.

Might be a long shot but don’t be surprised if he gets a look.

You can add Brett Brown to the list when Elton Brand uses him as a scapegoat.

I know that he is viewed as a developmental guy, but why has this been the reputation he has gotten? He took a not that great Nets team without Kyrie to the 7 seed that was beating good teams. Also, the developmental aspect seems like something a young team would find valuable. It seems like he should be the clear favorite. Does anyone have any perspective/info about him and why it seems like his name hasn’t been mentioned much in the basketball media recently.

He interviewed for the Knicks job. A lot of people thought he would get it before Thibs got it.

Kenny Atkinson aside, if there is a up and coming wonder coach out there, I think that should be the route over a retread hire. If the front office feels Finch could be their Raptors version of Nick Nurse, than I say go for it.

Why is Anthony Grant on this list?

I can see it given the optics and how SJW Swin Cash and Griffin seem to be.

But I sincerely hope they do not make a decision even remotely based on that.

I listed every coach in the article, even Mike Brown. Would be a ridiculous hire.

Well considering 1 year of Tim Floyd and half a dozen donuts with Jeff Bower was the only time with non Black coach since they moved here, I’d say that’s a decent bet.

I’d rather Charles Barley than Mark Jackson

I’d rather Alvin Gentry’s allergist over Mark Jackson

We definitely have to watch Bud’s staff in Milwaukee.

Darvin Ham and Charles Lee could get jobs this summer. I think how well Taylor Jenkins has done in Memphis helps that.
