Can we agree that Jrue has played up to his contract the past couple weeks?

He's annoyingly inconsistent at times, but when he's in the zone, he looks like an allstar. I've been really impressed by his play at times. He has the length and athleticism to dominate at times. I hope he keeps it up.

The only time he's bad is when he's not aggressive.

Aggressive, attacking, Jrue doesn't really have a bad games, because he gets to the rim any time he wants

Well it's been happening a lot without Davis the past several games.

He's been aggressive since the injury. Needs to continue.

agree with you there. He does have a very good ability at getting to the rim. However, sometimes when he gets cut off, he jumps in the air without someone to pass it to causing a lot of turnovers. He just needs to get better at learning when to be aggressive and when to pull out. Once he gets that down better (hopefully), he is lethal.

I think your observation of him attacking the rim is a huge part of his resurgence. He can get there and finish with ease. Maybe it is just similar to Gordon in Houston. All it takes is building that confidence that your legs are 100% able to withstand the punishment of going inside.

17-18 / 5 / 5 with very good defense Jrue is worth that contract if he can get that 3pt % up. He’s being carried beyond the arc by the insanity of Miller and Moore lately.

ETA: not worth the contract but that’s close to a 18-20 per guy at least and not the albatross it was looking like.

My son and I were discussing this on the way home. For that contract, we expected Jrue to be an 18-19pt. guy. If Jrue were hitting 1 more 3 per game, he’s there. He’s just had a horrible start this season with 3s, but he’s rounding into form.

On most other teams, I’d expect a 24-25 pt. guy for that money, but this team has AD and DC. You’re not going to have 3 guys putting up 25/night unless you’re Golden State. And you don’t let Jrue walk because he’s only going to put up 18-19 alongside AD/DC. He’s shown that when AD is out and he has to score, he can.

I’m very happy with the current Jrue. It just took him a little while to fit into his new role. That’s understandable.

Jrue's last 5 games. Definite improvement. Though of course I suspect his numbers will fall down a bit with AD coming back. But if he can give us 18-20ppg at that efficiency, as the team slowly improves defensively, he might not ever earn that contract, but that becomes contract that is manageable and far from the albatross it seemed to start the season.

Well no shite. But if he can play at this level it makes the contract easier to swallow

Jrue at his best is really fricking good.

I will say, Jrue may never live up to his contract (5/131.8 -- 26.361mil annually)

but I'm glad we're not Sacramento and George Hill (3/57mil -- 19mil annually)

I’ve pointed this out before. Klay is a 20-22 guy on higher usage. If he had Jrue’s contract no one would bat an eye. Now Klay is a sniper from outside and can drop 20 in 10 minute spurts, but Jrue gives you more reliable defense. Obviously, you’d much prefer Klay Thompson and his size over Holiday, but Thompson is Jrue’s ceiling.

Expecting Jrue to do anything over 18-19 PPG if Davis/Cousins/Rondo are healthy seems completely unrealistic.

Jrue is one of the top 3 one on one players in our league today. He displayed it again tonight. He was able to get the ball on the wing and uptop ISOs and nobody can stay in front of him.

That was a post game quote from Rondo last night. I won’t say I didn’t believe Rondo when he said Jrue was one of the best cutters he had played with, but I thought there was at least some exaggeration until Rondo got on the floor with Jrue in that first preseason game and you saw how easy it was for Rondo to set him up on cuts. If Rondo thinks Jrue is one of the best one on one players I believe him. If Jrue doesn’t live up to this contract it will be a shame because he has the ability to do it.

Well, to continually complain about a done deal( his contract} is pointless and tiresome
