I don't know what's going on with LeBron, but that Portland game is huge for Play In implications and him missing it is a big deal.

Not injury related? Weird.

Would be beautiful if he just retired for some perceived racial reason.

It wouldn't be beautiful at all. Griff's entire bet on those picks is that LeBron keeps the Lakers salary cap too clogged to get help while declining due to age and injury. We don't want him to retire, we want him to get an extension for as much money as he's eligible for.

You're right. The Kobe lifetime achievement contract that guarantees you're going to suck.

Sometimes I have a hard time being non-emotionally driven when it comes to Klutch/Lebron. Really one of my most disliked athletes of all time.

I agree that it's better in the long run for LeBron to drag the Lakers down for years, but they will still suck if he retired today. If fact, they will suck sooner and faster if he retires -- they will just have an opportunity to rebuild faster. But we know exactly what kind of leadership AD provides and how good the Lakers will be as his team.

The Lakers loss last night puts them into 7th place in the West and into the play-in slot. They are now a game behind the Blazers and two games behind the Mavs in the fight to stay out of the play-in, and crucially, last night's loss meant that the Blazers will have the tiebreaker over the Lakers.

At this point, the odds of the Lakers missing the playoffs are greater than our chance of making them, and that's now my focus with this thread. The Mavs victory last night over the Cavs was also good in this regard.

Just in case anyone was still holding on to the wild hope that we could somehow still make a run without Zion, the Spurs win last night over the Kings should have ended that hope. We now sit 2.5 games back of the Spurs, and of course, they have the tiebreaker over us.

it's over now. time to look at ping pong balls.

We are sitting at the 10 spot currently.
The Kings are a game behind us. The Bulls are 2, and the Raptors are 3. Sac has a good chance to pass us up, and they've been playing really well lately. They have OKC their next two games, followed by two against Memphis and finish off with Utah, who should be resting everyone.

we are only a game behind Washington and Indiana, so those two morons need to win.

The Raptors lost to the Grizzlies last night, meaning that they are all but mathematically eliminated from the play-in push, and in the race to the bottom, we're unlikely to pass them.

We want both the Wizards and the Pacers to stay behind us in the ping-pong status, but they played each other last night and the Wizards won, dropping the Pacers into the #10 seed in the East -- and also just a game behind us in the ping-pong race.

The Bulls now site 3 games behind the Pacers with five games to play, so they aren't totally eliminated, but, out of their five remaining games, they have to play the Nets (twice!) and the Bucks, so it's really not going to happen -- but maybe a win today over the Pistons will provide some false hope. They look like a huge failure after trading for Vucevic at the deadline, but they sit two games ahead of us in the ping-pong race, and I don't think that we're going to lose enough to catch them.

Last night's Blazers win over the Spurs was a good result, because it will encourage the Kings to think that they still have a chance, especially since the Kings face the Thunder today.

It also puts the Blazers 1.5 games ahead of the Lakers for the #6 seed (and the Blazers have the tiebreaker). If the Lakers lose today to the Suns, then it's pretty much a done deal that the Lakers will be in the play-in.

Loved seeing that Lakers score this morning haha.

Are you saying the Kings still think they have a chance at the 10 seed?

Looks like even if we lose out the highest we are likely to get is 9.

8 or 7 is theoretically possible but looking at schedules it’s unlikely.

9 is 65%
10 is 19%

1,2,3, 4 each at 3%

thats based on current standings.

likely available at 9
kispert shooter. possible good ceiling. floor looks low.
mitchell can play. high floor.
Moody TD regional favorite.

Eh if we lose out I wouldn't say 8 is unlikely. The Bulls still have games left against Detroit and Toronto. They also play MIL the last game who could be resting everyone. We're only 2 GB of them.

They are 3 games back of the Spurs.

The Spurs five remaining games are against the Suns (twice), Nets, Knicks, and Bucks -- they could lose all five.

Meanwhile, after getting the Thunder today, the Kings will get them again, along with two games against the Grizzlies (and a game against the Jazz). They have to feel that they can win four out of their last five games.

I'm not saying that it's likely, but I bet the Kings locker room is still hopeful.

The Mavs loss last night to the Grizzlies drops them into a tie with Portland and leaves them just one game ahead of the Lakers. If we want the Lakers to suffer the indignity of the play-in, then we need to lose to the Mavs tonight -- and that's beside the opportunity for us to get more ping-pong balls.

A good thing about that game is that it keeps the Grizzlies only half a game behind Golden State in the fight for the #8 seed, meaning that the Warriors definitely won't be resting anyone against us next game.

The Kings beat the Thunder to move into a tie with us in the standings, so we have a good chance of out-tanking the Kings and moving up a spot.

That's likely the only spot we're going to move up, as the Bulls' loss to the Nets means that it's unlikely that we can pass them in draft order, as their 3 remaining games include the Nets and the Bucks.

Ball is OUT tonight. That's four starters out. Unless NAW goes crazy...this is good for us.

Also give me Davion Mitchell at 9 or give me death

Chances either of them rest starters? I mean realistically, does being the 2 or 3 seed mean that much? Neither are in danger of dropping to the 4th seed.
