re: Playoff Picture/Ping-Pong Balls Thread
Team being in this position is due primarily to guard play. Team’s priority to me is at point. If you believe a 23 yr. old Zo can develop into the role you sign him at a fair value 18-21. If you don’t, who’d be available on the market at that price? You certainly don’t draft a point that you’d have to develop along with Kira. Or you feel good enough about Kira (defensively and offensively) to let him take the reins and add a vet backup.

Tatum put up 60 tonight and led the Celtics back from a 32 point deficit against the Spurs. I refuse to check the standings, bc they are depressing, but I assume this helps us as long as we can help ourselves and finish strong.

Spurs could drop just as well as the Warriors. We haven’t had a streak all year.

We are 5 back of the Spurs. We aren’t catching them.
Our ticket to the play in is through GSW

I may be reaching a little bit I feel like 3 games in 4 days for both us and GS is an advantage for us. They rely on jumpers way more than we do. Our style is built for a grind. I'm hoping tired legs play a part. Gotta handle business tonight for it to even matter though.

Actually, only 3.5 games back and they have a tough schedule until the end of season.

But the Spurs now have the tiebreaker with us, which is what last Saturday's game decided, so it's extremely unlikely that we catch them. It's also very unlikely that we catch the Warriors, because we don't have anyone who can do anything to slow Curry down -- he's just going to go nuts against us.

That's why 538 now puts our playoff odds at just 7%, and it's also why I'm not updating this thread.

Holding out hope until the Pels are mathematically eliminated. I think your right though, it’ll likely come down to 1 or 2 games back and the team will be kicking themselves for the number of mind numbing losses.

Warriors’ Kelly Oubre Jr. has a torn ligament in his left wrist and a fracture on the palm, sources tell
@TheAthletic

@Stadium
. Oubre reaggravated his wrist on April 9, missed 11 days and returned for five games, attempting to play through the injury and compete on the floor.

I understand it's a longshot with our inconsistency all year, but we technically control our own destiny 3 games back of Golden State with 3 upcoming games against them.

At least having the chance to play in is giving our young players some win-or-go-home type games that they can build on in the future.

We’ve had a chance to make the playoffs all season... we keep fricking it up.

Why do people cling onto hope that we’ll make it now with only a few games left and still being well behind? The whole season should tell you what’s likely to happen.

You think we’ll beat Golden State 3 times? Even if that happened we’d probably still need to win out.

A disappointing season...Many losses at crunch time, bad 3th QTs at the beggining of the season

I hope Zion will improve his shooting in the off-season and Griff will do some trades (Bledsoe, Adams)

And of course, Pels win enough games in the last 20 of the season to miss the playoffs and also end up outside of the lottery with a crappy draft slot.

We won't be "outside" the lottery, but we will be most likely picking towards the end of the lottery.

That's fine. Davion Mitchell and Corey Kispert are both projected in that range and I'd be happy with either.

Too bad we didn’t beat the spurs. If we had, I really don’t think there would be any question that we would have caught and passed them.

The spurs interestingly enough rested Derozan and Dejonte Murray tonight.

Spurs have two with Jazz this week.... Pop has a way of keeping it together under adversity though

re: Playoff Picture/Ping-Pong Balls Thread
I think winning 2 against the Warriors gives us a legitimate shot to pass the spurs. We do play the Lakers in the last game of the season. Unfortunately, it looks like a game they will need to win for playoff positioning/chemistry. Earlier in the year, it was probably a game they didn’t need and were going to rest bron and ad before going into the playoffs.

re: Playoff Picture/Ping-Pong Balls Thread
This will never happen, but a very improbable, minute possibility remains that the Pelicans make the playoffs and still get a lottery pick. The Lakers are now tied for the 7th seed. Just imagine the Pels winning the play in tournament and the Lakers losing it and “winning” the lottery, finishing with a top 8 pick that the Pelicans would then get. Or the Pels and Lakers both losing out in the play in with similar results in the lottery and they end up with 2 lottery picks this year. There are better odds of me winning the actual lottery, but it’s still cool that these possibilities remain at this late point in the season. LeBron left tonight’s game with ankle soreness, by the way.
