I thought Naji and Jose did pretty well. DG played with a pulse tonight. It was really a team effort and having Nance playing definitely helps.
If I remember right Seabron scored the last points Herb was fouled going to the rim and fell on his back and they are saying it’s bruised. That’s about the whole game.

Actually DG played VERY WELL tonight (6 assists in 18 minutes with 0 turnovers). The Pels Talk whipping boy of the week was very good tonight. And in truth has played pretty damn well all year long.

He's been terrible for the last month after starting out the season ok.

He hasn’t shot well recently, which for Devontae is key. But he has played solid defense and not turned the ball over. AD has consistently talked about how well he has played. For some reason he has become the guy everyone here wants to blame.

because you expect more from a 12million dollar guard, who also costed you a 1st...
He's getting paid around Jordan Clarkson, Josh Hart, Josh Richardson, Dillon Brooks, Reggie Jackson, Landry Shamet, THT, Alec Burks
yet he's contributing less than all of them.

He consistently fails at his primary role on the team. Pointing out his OK defense is grasping at straws to defend him.

The fact is he has played solid defense, whether you want to acknowledge that or not. And if you would like to point out things which are facts and not subjective, he also has the best assist to turnover ratio on the entire team (over 4 to 1). Which clearly shows he is contributing even when his shooting has been off. Even if he is not worth what we are paying him (think it’s pretty clear he’s not), he has still been a solid contributor to the team this year and deserves minutes.

He has improved defensively. I wouldn't say he's good but he's better than god awful, which he was last season.
But...We don't need another defensive guard. We need shooting.
We've got Jose, Herb, Dyson and Naji to defend. We have no one right now outside of CJ and a very streaky Trey that can shoot.
We need a straight up shooter. Damion Lee, Luke Kennard, Beasley, Isiah Joe, Niang, Torrey Craig, etc.
Our bench "shooter" cannot be 33 percent from 3. That's not what we need.

Is saying he has played solidly saying we can’t find someone who would be an upgrade?? Or that he’s worth what we are paying him? Show me where I said either of those things. I’ve just gotten tired of the ridiculously negative comments made towards Devontae when he’s actually played well and contributed even when his shot isn’t falling (which wasn’t the case last year).

No, but he's not contributing in the way we need him too consistently.
He basically has one job - shoot the 3 at a high level. If he's not doing that, the rest is irrelevant because even his improved defense is below that of Jose, Dyson, etc.

You seem to be ignoring the fact that his assist to turnover ratio is the best on the team. And in less minutes is averaging the exact amount of assists as Dyson. But clearly, again, Devontae has replaced CJ as the Pels Talk whipping boy (since even the anti-CJ guys can’t do it right now), so I don’t expect fairness in evaluating him.

What is Graham better at than Dyson and Jose?
Why should he see minutes? The one thing he should be better at is shooting. He's not.
I applaud his improved assist/TO ration and defense, but it's not enough to get minutes over the guys above.

Willie apparently disagrees. But since you clearly know better, I’ll defer to you.

Chiming in to say that CJ is balling out so hard right now that I think we have a punchers chance against the C’s on Wednesday.

Willie surely knows more than me, but Willie also thought that Temple was deserving of minutes last year.
He's loyal to vets. That's fine but as the season rolls on, it's becoming clear that Graham ain't the guy.
We were also probably trying to rehab him for a trade but that's not working out either.

I agree. And it’s an interesting spot for the Celtics. We are the first half of a back to back they have, with Brooklyn on Thursday. Obviously Durant not being there might limit the Celtics concern over that game, but it’s still more important to them than the game against us. Wouldn’t be surprised to see them sit Horford or Williams and maybe someone else against us Wednesday.

Willie played 3 rookies key minutes in the playoffs. Lets not pretend he's a normal coach in the "favors vets" category. Temple and Willie was the same as Bledsoe with SVG. Were those vets terrible? Yes. Were the youngsters actually ready to take their minutes? No. Trey really wasn't ready until the end of the season. If you look at the advanced stats NAW and Kira were worse at impacting winning than Bledsoe.
Fans always come with the argument of "play the young guy, they'll get better so the mistakes they make along the way will be a worthwhile investment." That's not how coaches think when they are trying to win. If they are going to play the more talented young player, those guys need to be fundamentally sound enough to play within the coach's system.
All of that being said, I still find it hard to argue Graham over Dyson unless it's about shooting.

FWIW I’m not arguing Graham over Dyson. Especially when/if we get healthy again and get BI and Zion back and we don’t need to play lineups that are somewhat offensively limited, which I think exacerbates Dyson’s offensive struggles. My only point with Graham is he has not played nearly as poorly as the majority of this board contends. And his defense and facilitating has improved greatly over last year.

Wide open 3, who do you trust more Dyson or Graham? I'd say it's a crapshoot, so might as well go with Dyson for rebounding and D.
