We talked about this in the trade thread, but this deserves a thread. It's Ty-mothafrickingstraightgas-reke.

But why? We parted ways with him last year and now we want him back? Didn't Gentry hate him?

Don't want unless cheap (i.e. not a 1st).

Only reason this is even possible is if pelicans have a trade in the works. Reke doesn’t even have a true position. He’s a tweener 1/2 who even has played the 3.

Saying that I would not hate the idea of him coming back, but he had better not start with that hero ball BS.

Give him 15-18 minutes off the bench and I’m cool with it as long as he buys into his roll.

Why on earth would you trade for Tyreke to play him less than 20 a night

Too bad we couldn't toss in Ajinca's contract to match salary instead of Tyreke last year.

Evans was an expiring which was valuable to Kings. His cap hit was also double that of Ajinca so it helped the matching of the salaries in the trade. Not really an option.

Reke is balling out in Memphis and is quietly having arguably his best season as a pro.

That tends to happen on bad teams.

Yes and no. His efficiency going up is something worth looking at. Easy to put up volume stats on bad teams for sure though.

All the gurus on pels talk seem to hate Tyreke but I've always loved him as a player. A guy that can create on his own and get you to the line. He's a more willing passer than he gets credit and AD feasts on his Kobe assists.

This is bit of a mischaracterization. Most of the "haters" would love him as a 6th man. He just regularly does dumb things with the ball which was frustrating when he was the guy running the show at the end of games. Also, the moment he told the media that he gave Gentry's way a try and it didn't really work for him and he needed to play his style, he pretty much had to go. If your offense is built on movement a guy that runs out the clock dribbling the ball rather than passing and moving just doesn't fit. He's basically running a different system than everyone else on the court with him. If he's willing to come off the bench and willing to play within the system, he'd be welcome to stay for a reasonable price.

I wouldn't hate this until he had the ball in his hands on a last possession.

Wolvereke heroball + Gentry knowing nothing other than Iso is a recipe for frick everything.
