From Jake Fischer article who talks a lot about the pelicans.
Glad to see the team are trying to get more spacers which we desperately need.

It's not hard to imagine considering the 2 biggest hole left on the team is a stretch 4 and a lead guard.

Hopefully we can land one of those guys. I’d be down for either one.

Forbes and McDermott would be perfect for us

I saw a Pelicans writer propose a S&T for Lauri and of course sign Lowry. I know it seems like he doesn't get any love on here but I wouldn't mind Lauri for the right price. His shooting has gotten better every season and he's still young. I think eventually Murphy may be able to fill that role. He has the height and length but needs to fill out.
I’ve said it all day, but I would love for us to get Jamychal Green.
Does a lot of what Hunter could have done in that he can guard multiple positions, stretch the floor, back up our two best players, and give you some interesting wrinkles in lineups. Since you can use him to go big and small.
Would also like to see us give a call to Bobby Portis now that he has declined his option. Would be a great stretch 5 and bring some pitbull attitude like James Johnson did.

The problem with Lauri is his defense. He has nice modern big man skills but he's too slow to defend modern 4s and too weak to defense 5s. He's pretty 1 dimensional and would cost a good bit to land. And if you consider playing time against Zion, Hayes, and JV, it would be a waste of money as big minutes would be real tough to come by.

That is why we should be looking at someone like Jamychal Green. Would be my top role player target on that list if I’m the Pels
Can also stretch the floor like Lauri(not as well as Lauri, but you have to respect him), but can actually guard modern 4’s and has the size and movement to switch up and down.
Can play the 3, the 4, and even a small ball 5 for stretches. If you are going to go the Zion without a traditional center route for stretches, give me Jamychal Green over a Lauri every day and twice on game day.

Encouraging to see team seemingly going all in on adding shooters and spacing. You have Zion and Ingram. Every other player added from here on out either needs to either pull defenders away from the cup or play great defense.
It’s why I like the draft pick, I like the trade for Jonas. I don’t love signing Lowry.

I've seen his defense mentioned quite a few places but haven't really seen him play. Besides the obvious like Zion and giannis, what 4s would he have trouble guarding. I know as of right now JV is only signed for one season so this could be a setup for the future but you're right, this would be a bad allocation of resources this season as there's no way for 4 front court players to get minutes. A 3/4 has much clearer path.

I couldn’t agree with you more.

Lowry would be one of the best 3 point shooters on the team.

Just to be clear I wouldn’t hate signing Kyle Lowry, I just don’t think it’s the right move if the goal is to be a title contender given he will command a 3 year contract.
Lowry is a .368 career 3 pt shooter already over the age of 35. Maybe I’m pessimistic after seeing Redick lose his legs and his effectiveness as a long range shooter (as compared to his career average), but if Lowry is one of the 3 best 3 pt shooters on the team then the team isn’t a Kyle Lowry away from being a contender and I don’t want to pay Lowry $35 million or whatever he will command.

I think what happened to JJ is he didn’t have his usual offseason prep. That’s one thing he talked about a lot on his podcast was how important his training routines were and they got totally disrupted. He actually got his 3P% back up to 36.5% before he was traded.
Reggie Miller said on a broadcast this year that he could shoot at an NBA level still, he just couldn’t do much else good enough. So I don’t think shots leave people with age like some fear. Kyle Korver shot 41.8% from 3 at age 38.

The issue with jj is also how he shoots, it's highly ineffective in terms of how much motion and energy he puts in compared to say Allen, curry, Thompson, Miller, etc.

Vince Carter comes to mind as somebody who’s shot kept getting better.

I think signing Lowry would be a huge, catastrophic mistake. Even if he was pretty good year one, he will have a steep decline at some point during the deal and unless it's during the final year, you will have to attach more assets to him to unload him. And that's not how I want to use our assets from the AD and Jrue trades.
I wish we would be exploring deals from Brogdon as much as we are Lowry. Who knows, maybe we are. That's the guy I really want. He's the perfect one for this team and he seems to be available for the right price. Would cost $10-12 mil less per year also.

I know Collins is hurt again, but wouldn’t be a bad flier if he is real cheap. If healthy, I like his fit with Zion.

The issue with JJ isn’t his form, it’s that he has gotten old and the end is near. He had a very good career.
