Miller barely missed his first 2 three pointers and then made his next 2. I think he'll be a solid addition until Hill gets back.

Article from the Advocate on the attendance.

quote:

On the last day of September, right smack dab in the middle of football season on a day that would have been picturesque for one of those New Orleans festivals, 6,500 fans woke up on a Saturday morning and made their way to watch the Pelicans PRACTICE.

SIX THOUSAND and FIVE HUNDRED.

Normally when you get a crowd figure from team officials, you assume the number is a bit inflated.

Not this time.

In fact, I thought the number may have been a little low.

Traffic was backed up on Dave Dixon Drive 30 minutes before tipoff, leaving me to wonder if there was something going on at Champions Square that I didn't know about. Or maybe fans were arriving a day early for a Saints' game watch party.

Nope.

Hopefully this turns into early sellouts. Having an excitied crowd early in the season could help the team get off to the good start they need.

That article gave me goosebumps. I'm a diehard Saints fan, but ever since we got the team in 2002, there has always been this warm fuzzy feeling with the Pelicans (except the OKC years) because we've struggled so much with internal and external problems... attendance issues, relevance in our own city and state, relocation rumors, ownership issues, etc. The years of the building being 30% full on a Wednesday night against another crappy small-market team... Some nights like that I think of things like man the arena prepares for a crowd of 18k making all the food in the club level, t-shirts that fly into empty upper bowl sections, etc. and think "what's the point?"

It really warms my heart to see 6,500 show up on a Saturday morning for a practice during football season.

Are fans forgetting how terrible Hill was before he got hurt ?
Or does everyone think he will somehow have improved after his injury ? (See fans opinions of q-pon up until moment he got traded)

Hill is overpaid but that doesn't mean he isn't a productive role player. Good defense, moves the ball well, and can at least shoot a decent percentage from the arc
