Pelicans closing in on 4,000 new season tickets
Mike Stanfield, SVP of Sales, said on WWL he heard 3,500 the last he heard, “but didn’t have an updated number.”

Good news but I'm afraid there's a strong possibility a lot of this is from ticket brokers. Regardless, it shores up the franchise's bottom line.

If the tickets are sold, does the team necessarily care that it is resellers?

Not like they will be going for the price of a Snickers bar on Stubhub like Sixers tickets were a few years back.

Yea who cares. Sure prices may suck but at least it means butts in seats. Brokers don’t want to sit on ticket.

He said on the radio that they discontinued last night their ability to purchase tickets on the website because they went butts in seats. It’s to thwart the brokers.

I’m sure the Pelicans aren’t stupid enough to sell that many tickets to brokers. Maybe they sold a portion of them to one or two brokers, but they’d be fricking things up big time.

I wonder if these are college basketball fans following a huge college star to their NBA team, or AD era Pels fans that didn't renew figuring we were about to rebuild?

Probably starfricker Lakers fans who are buying Pels stuff since the Pels just got the most hyped rookie in years.

Yeah I don’t know the numbers on that but it seems that Saints and Pels fans are vastly pro-only followers.

They have many more opportunities to increase those numbers this summer. I can see them selling out the lower bowl and the good balcony seats for the entire season.
