One thing we can all agree on: the Melli experiment is over.Posted by Fun Bunch

He’s not an NBA player and has been horrific this year.
I think we can all agree he needs to see the bench at least for awhile in favor of Gabriel or Hernangomez

I’m not even hoping his shot goes in anymore, I’m just hoping it’s not an air ball so we have a chance at the rebound.

I like Melli last year at times. This year, he has been abysmal shooting the 3. If he’s not gonna come in and knock down 3-5 threes a game, then the rest of his game is worthless to the team. He is so unathletic that he will always be out of position on defense especially when having to guard the perimeter. It’s amazing how quick he looked on tape vs Euro teams. He looks like a sloth on an nba court

Griff needs to make a move, can’t get fired with all these picks.

SVG said he's only had one practice, so he's not up to speed.
A not up to speed guy can't be any worse though.
But what we need is Tucker

Yeah Melli added nothing yesterday. I don’t see why others were put in to get run.

I think Tucker and Zion could mesh quite well
I also think Tucker could be available since Rockets are basically in rebuild mode

Rumors are rampant that they are shopping him. It would basically take Lonzo to match salary, which is why I've been proposing Lonzo for Tucker/House. Even if they don't keep Zo, they can ship him to a 3rd team (Charlotte) for more assets

It's hard to gauge the value the rest of the league sees in Lonzo. I don't think it's even Tucker level
I think it's at an all time low right now

We accumulated these assets for a reason. Use one of our potential late first to help get the right role players on the team.
The Pels are already developing their top end talent on the roster. Unloading everything to make a team with no depth and over the tax is not going to be a big winner either.
As example:
Trading for Beal will destroy depth, add a $40+ million salary putting us over the tax with no way to further improve the team, we will probably expend all of our picks so we won’t be able to improve through the draft, and New Orleans is a small market with no history that will not be able to sign cheap solid vet role players.
The Pels need some slight role player improvements to jump in the middle of the playoff seedlings. They can then further improve the team with the other flexibility they still possess (cap and draft).

Stan sounds pretty close to done with Melli from today's presser. He was asked about JJ and Melli and how you fix that. He said with JJ the offense just isn't getting him good looks so most of his shots are tough. For Melli he said it's hard to get in a rhythm with limited shots BUT
quote:
his looks are good looks, they're open looks, they're shots with time. He's just struggling knocking them down. What I talked to him about today is I think it's become a little bit mental with him and he's gotta get over it. This is a veteran guy, he may only be a 2nd year in the NBA, but he's a veteran guy that's played in a lot of big games, and you just gotta over come the slump and shoot the ball. No way he should have 2 airballs in a game.
