This old washed up fat bum should be posting on DU and talking to Dan Lebatard on the radio, not coaching Zion Williamson.
Team can’t shoot a 3 or stop anyone from shooting them.
Hopefully Griffin has the stones to realize the mistake he made.

I thought I was missing something because so many people liked it. I don't keep up with other NBA teams like I used to so I figured I was just wrong for hating the hire.

I said it in another thread, I'm not sure the coaching is the only problem. The goal is to be a defense first team but this isn't a defense first roster. Kind of like Demps gave Monty a Gentry roster and then Gentry a Monty roster. I'm not sure a young defensive assistant would have solved the fundamental problem of a non defensive roster trying to be a defensive team.

I’m not sure it’s all on SVG. We can’t hit 3’s and every team makes them against us. Seems like more of the same.

I think it's more personnel than coaching. After watching these games these guys IQ we below average. This is not a smart team

The personnel is an issue. For sure.
But they should not be this bad. They should not get annihilated by this dreadful Pistons team.
When a team does the same thing over and over again it’s the coaching. It’s on the coaching that they can’t stop 3s.

I agree, too much emphasis is placed on coaching when coaching in the NBA IMO(besides the absolute cream of the crop) is typically something that improves a team on the margins, personnel is what moves a team up and down tiers.
People are praising Thibs for what he is doing in NY with that Knicks team, but look at how the Minny team turned out before Jimmy Butler showed up. Even the best defensive coaches can’t make magic happen if your players are crap or are too immature in their BBall IQ to be good team defenders.
I’m not sure what type of coach this roster is built for(I honestly think it’s built for a coach that wants to be hated by fans and used as a scapegoat by a GM), but it’s not built for winning basketball

That is 100% SVG's scheme. We pack the paint and rush to close out on shooters, so the perimeter is always WIDE OPEN and every team has historic shooting nights against us. Even bad teams like these Pistons.

Stan wasn't brought in to win, he was brought in to turn Zion/Ingram into tougher, grittier players. We are seeing that improvement from Zion, and Ingram is playing harder some of the time.
Losing isn't fun, but honestly the best case scenario for this season is to have improvement from Zion/Ingram/Kira and then add a 4th starter in the draft.

Griffin is very good at talking the talk. He plays the media really well, says what you want to hear, but outside of the AD trade and maybe the Jrue trade, he's kinda been arse my dude.

I was going to start this thread at some point regardless. It’s become something of a tradition.
