show me a scenario in which d'angelo russell can be traded to the pelicans as part of an anthony davis trade.

i suspect we are just splitting hairs here on terminology

I'm not saying it's likely at all. Just that it's possible.

What rule do you think that trade would violate? I've seen quite a few people mention that it wasn't possible, so I searched all throughout the CBA FAQ and came up empty.

i always remember hearing you can't S&T players with other players involved in the trade, but looking in the CBA i didn't see that mentioned as a restriction either.

I think where the trouble falls is matching salaries, and having both team really needing to have cap space available to make the trade work.
IF DLo gets a $30M salary, we take on the $30M, but are matching only $15M, so we have to have the cap space to sign him, unless the Nets have the cap space to accept more than $15M in return in the trade.

Same, which is why I initially looked into it a couple weeks ago.

Right, but we will both have cap space, so it wouldn't really matter.

Regardless, I doubt a Nets trade happens. To many hurdles to cross, and too many other deals that are just better.

agreed, lets move on

some news:
danny ainge held a presser today, his first after his medical scare. highlights

* His role with team will not change
* Kyrie Irving has given no indication about his future
* Brad Stevens is least of Danny’s worries
* Ainge reiterates he’s not afraid of risks
* Bullish on 2019-20 Gordon Hayward

i am convinced that hayward will be part of BOS's offer(s) for davis. whether you think thats a good thing or not for the pels may vary

If they take back Hill, then I think I'd be okay with it (obviously dependent on the rest of the trade).

AD
Hill

Gordon
Tatum
Brown

Something like:

AD
Hill
Moore

for

Hayward
Tatum
Brown
Williams
#14, #20 and 2020 Memphis pick

would be fine.

To go from zero competent 3’s in the past 7-8 years, to two stud 3’s (Hayward & Brown (2/3 plus Tatum (3/4) would be almost more than I could bear.

Insert Doc Holliday gif here.

Would bet anything against that happening.

You don't think Boston wants to get out from underneath that contract? Do you think Boston still in the hunt for AD?

If by taking Hayward we get all the picks, and Jaylen Brown, yes i'd be very happy with that.

Would definitely look to move Brown with picks for someone else, even though i like Brown, but we don't need all 3 of them. I know we keep throwing it around, or at least i do, going get Myles Turner, but a lineup of Jrue/Tatum/Hayward/Zion/Turner would be pretty good pretty quickly.
I'm on the side that believes Hayward will return to form.

I just made a huge mistake going to the Lakers subreddit.

HOLY. shite.

What a hellhole. These people almost universally agree that they can offer less now, possibly just the #4 and one of either Lonzo or Ingram.

They all think (and this is in multiple threads) that we are desperate now and they all hold all the cards.

It is unreal.

What's their rationale? Why should we be the desperate ones?

There isn't one that I can discern. I guess some Lakers insiders are saying we loved their previous offer and made some terrible mistake, and now that AD still wants out, we have no choice, and no other team will put anything on the table so they are our only option.

Or...something.

True. We should've made the trade at the deadline. I learned in school that when negotiating, one should always limit the available business partners and ensure that there are as few bidders as possible.
