Hope we can resign him, because hes the perfect fit next to Davis.

The shooting, off ball movement, passing, finishing, and post up game all fit so well next to a player that demands attention like AD.

And hes not an emotional lesbian like DeMarcus.

Truth is we're a much better team without Cousins, fact!

I think we can pretty much all agree with this. Cousins is talented but just not worth the hassle.

Last night watching that game, When i saw Niko and Randle both go to the floor diving for the ball to make a play, i thought to myself there is no way Cousins gives that kind of effort. Don't get me wrong, Demarcus was a superstar, but if we get even half the production from those 2 that we got last night we can compete with anyone.

Cousins tore his Achilles on an effort play chasing down his own FT vs (get this) Houston. I think our ceiling is higher with this roster, but this team wasn't looking too bad before his injury.

Niko, Davis, and Randle are the best group of front court players in the league. If the Pelicans can get 10 minutes from Okafor a game then this team will beat up a lot of other teams in the NBA.

We should be able to resign Niko. Randle will be the more complicated one if he can maintain an outside shot. Supposedly Randle loves it here and wants to be here long term, so hopefully we can figure out how to pay him to keep the 3 big rotation.

That is great to hear about Randle...Our bigs fit what Gentry wants to do. If we can get to a 10 man rotation to help lower minutes of other guys then we will be very dangerous all season.. I am hoping Okafor, Wesley Johnson, or Tim Fazier can take some of those minutes until we make another move for a SF at the deadline.

Last night was great and terrible at the same time. Payton and Randle played well enough to make the Pels contenders, but if they keep playing that well they might not be here next year.

That's a good problem to have.

here are the rotations, courtesy of @philjfry5

it does not appear that randle/niko/davis ever played all together, if they did it was only for a very short time. i would expect this to continue until they get more practices in...you can take any two of the three and play them together without hesitation, and that's a huge advantage over small ball teams

guillory:

quote:

Gentry has floated the idea in the past of playing all three big men together, but injuries to Mirotic and Randle during the preseason prevented them from getting much practice time in together to find out how a supersized lineup like that would work.

Instead, Gentry used an interesting method in Wednesday’s victory to get all of his big men minutes. With Davis and Mirotic in the starting lineup, the Pelicans coach made sure to sub Randle in at about the six-minute mark of the first and third quarters to get him some run with the starters.

From that point, he would swap one of his bigs in every three minutes to make sure they were fresh, and it kept the Rockets guessing about how they would handle each of the big-man pairings New Orleans threw out.

and, on mirotic, excellent observation:
quote:

But it isn’t just Mirotic’s shooting that unlocks Gentry’s offense, but his willingness to seek out his shots that forces defenses to give him enough attention to free up the others on the team. Mirotic isn’t like traditional spot-up shooters who wait for the best players on the squad to create looks for him. He hunts for his own shots and forces opposing defenses to react to him.
